  1. Prostate cancer tests: One in eight men will get the diseasepublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    We've been hearing today about football steward Rod Gent, who only found out he has prostate cancer after being offered an exam by his club Burton Albion.

    In the UK, about one in eight men will get prostate cancer at some point, external in their lives, according to charity Prostate Cancer UK.

    It adds that men aged 50 or over, men with a family history of prostate cancer and black men are more at risk of getting the cancer. 

    Nearly 11,000 men die from it each year.

    A report into a major fire in Stafford has been unable to find what caused it. 

    Global Hygiene, in Astonfields Industrial Estate, went up in flames on 2 March.

    It's been classed as inconclusive by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, because of the severity of the fire.

    People living nearby were evacuated from their homes and local rivers were polluted with oil.

    A number of people living in a Staffordshire village have told BBC Radio Stoke annual farm concerts should be scrapped because they say they're so disruptive to residents.

    Five households have objected to Betley Farm, external's application to extend their licence to a fourth day for a Bryan Adams concert next Thursday.

  10. Travel: A41 remains closed, and congestion on the A519published at 08:15 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    The A41 is still shut between Hinstock and Tern Hill following last week's lorry crash. 

    An accident also means there are severe delays in both directions on the A519, on the Staffordshire border near Newport.

    An event to commemorate the Battle of the Somme, external this summer at Lichfield Cathedral has now drawn the support of the Archbishop of Canterbury. 

    He's among a number of people across the world who've been asked to record an excerpt from a war poem which have been placed on social media ahead of the Before Action project starting.

    During the event itself, which will run from 4-6 August, readings will be screened each night, featuring the voice of Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne.

    Drayton Manor Theme Park has banned children's scooters after a young boy ploughed into a grandmother, shattering her kneecap. 

    Jane Moran, 63, from Birmingham, was enjoying a day out with her family at the park near Tamworth, Staffordshire, last week when the accident happened.

    A driver, who was killed in a crash with another car in Staffordshire as he was being pursued by police, has been named today., external

    West Mercia Police had said it was following a Vauxhall Corsa over a suspected offence before the crash on the A53 in Newcastle-Under-Lyme on 24 July.  

    The 21-year-old behind the wheel was today named as Liam Sidhu from Stoke-on-Trent.

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission, which launched an investigation into the crash, said a passenger in the Corsa was still in a stable condition in hospital.

  15. Watch: Demonstration over toilet block demolitionpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 1 August 2016

    About 50 protesters have demonstrated this afternoon against the demolition of a toilet block in Stoke-on-Trent. 

    The campaigners from North Staffordshire Pensioners' Convention marched from the nearby Potteries Museum to the site on Stafford Street.

    The facilities have been shut since last year due to anti-social behaviour. 

    The protesters have since met with the city council to talk about their concerns over current plans that will see the block demolished and replaced with a single automatic toilet.

    A woman's been mugged in Kinver by a man who stole cash, external from her wallet. 

    She was walking down Meddins Lane last night towards Potters Cross say Staffordshire Police when her attacker came up behind her.

    The force say the 33-year-old felt an object at the back of her neck and was pushed to the ground. 

    Officers say she was threatened by the man who claimed to have a knife - he stole money from her wallet and "shuffled" off.
