    A bag containing prescribed medication and syringes has gone missing from a visitors centre in Stoke-on-Trent, external

    Police say a man camping at Westport lake discovered it had disappeared yesterday afternoon - they're appealing for help to find the drugs, stressing they could be dangerous in the wrong hands.

    The A5020 near Crewe remains closed after a crash involving two lorries left a load of sheet steel on the road.

    It's affecting traffic between the A500 at Weston heading towards Crewe Hall.

    We're told the road could stay closed for some time.

    Tackling anti-social behaviour in Hanley is a huge challenge, according to a Stoke-on-Trent vicar. 

    People in the City Centre are being urged to report any problems they see to Stoke-on-Trent City Council, external and Staffordshire Police. 

    It comes after a worker contacted BBC Radio Stoke saying they're worried about their own safety.

    Reverend Sally Smith from St Mark's in Shelton says more support's needed as the problem is getting bigger.

    The A5020 is currently closed between Park Lane and the A500 in Weston, near Crewe. 

    Cheshire Police advise, external you to avoid the area if possible.

  6. Drug-related arrests in Crewepublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    A man and woman from Crewe have been arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.

    A total of 13 people have now been detained in under a week, external as part of a wider Cheshire Police operation.

    Officers say a 45-year-old man was held at Manchester Airport yesterday as he returned to the UK and a 34-year-old woman was arrested on Parkers road in Crewe this morning. 

    Last Wednesday, 11 men across Crewe and the wider area were held on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs, nine have since been charged, two have been bailed.

  9. Police step up operation to tackle drug dealerspublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    Staffordshire Police says it's increased its operation against drug dealers this summer. The force has focused on criminals, external travelling into the county.

    The force describes Operation Nemesis as its fight to make the county a hostile place for drug dealers.

    It comes as a Wombourne man has been sentenced to over five years, external in prison.

    In the last two months a total of 51 people have been arrested on suspicion of supplying illegal substances with some suspects also detained for carrying violent weapons, the force says.

    Stoke-on-Trent has been named as the sixth UK city to host a carnival to celebrate the Paralympics., external

    It's a new event created with a Brazilian theme, which aims to excite and engage the British public with the Paralympics GB, external team and disability sport.

    Councillor Terry Follows, Stoke-on-Trent City Council cabinet member for greener city, development and leisure, said: “This is a tremendous honour for the city and we are thrilled to be a part of the carnival."

    Team GB is second in the medal table with 38 overall.

  16. Thousands sign petition against cuts to drug and alcohol servicespublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    Some 26,000 people have signed a petition opposing big cuts to drugs and alcohol services in Staffordshire. 

    Staffordshire County Council says it has to make savings, external because it's lost £15m funding from the NHS.

    The county council has told us it's looking at how to reshape services to help as many people as possible with the budget available.

    The issue can be discussed at a full council meeting if 5,000 people who live or work in Staffordshire sign the petition.
