  1. Stoke-on-Trent MP faces losing seat in boundary reviewpublished at 08:42 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    One of Stoke-on-Trent's MPs, Labour's Tristram Hunt, could see his seat in parliament disappear under new constituency boundary proposals in England and Wales.

    Most constituencies are affected by the bid to cut the number of MPs in the Commons and create equal-sized seats.

    The plans would see Stoke-on-Trent divided into north and south with the Stoke Central seat, currently held by Labour's Tristram Hunt, scrapped.

    Labour - expected to be hit hardest - said the proposals were "undemocratic". 

    But the government said they would "ensure an equal say for each voter".

    Up to eight Syrian refugee families are to be resettled in Cheshire over the next 12 months.

    The government is planning to take in up to 20,000 Syrians fleeing the country's civil war over the next four years. 

    Cheshire East Council is also accommodating three Syrian children who arrived, external in Kent without their parents.

    Police in Stoke-on-Trent are searching for a man after at least two incidents of indecent exposure in the early hours of yesterday morning. 

    Both happened in Sneyd Green - in one, a man who was exposing himself entered an elderly woman's home, external and attempted to assault her, police said.

    Crewe Alexandra loanee Liam Smith has suffered another injury setback, BBC Radio Stoke understands.

    The Newcastle United midfielder has yet to feature this season after he sustained an ankle injury, external in a pre-season game.

    Crewe town centre is to be deep-cleaned this week, according to Cheshire East Council. 

    It says work will be carried out overnight from tomorrow to make it more appealing to shoppers.

    It comes as the town's been identified as one of the worst affected by fly-tipping, external.

    There's very slow traffic on the M6 northbound in Cheshire.

    It's between J18, A54 (Middlewich) and J19, A556 (Knutsford) because of an earlier broken-down vehicle.

    All lanes have now reopened but traffic is back to J16 (Crewe).

    A new type of coffee morning is coming to Stoke-on-Trent. They're called death cafes, external - and organisers say it's an opportunity for people to talk about the subject that's sometimes too difficult or awkward to discuss. 

    Stoke Baptist Church is holding its first one at the start of October.

  15. Fire service trying again to put out firepublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 12 September 2016

    A fire at a Staffordshire farm that's been left to burn since last week is to be finally tackled.

    The blaze on Slitting Mill road in Rugeley started in around 400 tonnes of wood waste last Monday but it was decided to leave it burn in a controlled manner due to fears putting it out could lead to pollution in nearby water courses.

    However, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service says crews have been back on site today and are now considering "alternative tactics" - but has been reluctant to reveal what those might involve.

  17. North West Ambulance Service 'not hitting targets'published at 15:03 British Summer Time 12 September 2016

    North West Ambulance Service has admitted it is struggling to hit national response targets due to a rise in the number of emergency calls.

    A statement from the service (NWAS) said the number of 999 calls it has received increased by 25% this year.
