    A man has been airlifted to hospital with burns after a forklift truck fire in Congleton.

    The man is believed to be in his 50s and is being treated in Wythenshawe.

    The new Bishop of Lichfield is getting ready to take up his role with a pilgrimage around the diocese.

    On Wednesday, he's going to begin a nine-day tour of the Lichfield Diocese and will later walk from Stoke-on-Trent along the Two Saints Way pilgrimage trail, external to Lichfield.   

    His diocese covers Staffordshire, the Black Country and much of Shropshire.

    The coach of Nantwich Paralympian Andy Small , externalsays he's delighted he's won a Bronze medal at the games.

    A man who was arrested after a body was found in Crewe on Friday has been released without charge. 

    The body of a 38-year-old man was found in the Stewart Street area of the town at around 13:00.

    Cheshire Police says his death is no longer being treated as suspicious, external and the results of a post-mortem examination have been withheld until toxicology results are known.

    Fears are being raised whether the HS2 high-speed rail line will ever reach the north of England after the sudden resignation of its Chief Executive Simon Kirby. 

    Phase two of HS2 is expected to link Birmingham with Manchester and Leeds, passing through Staffordshire and Cheshire.

    Speaking to BBC North West Tonight, Labour MPs in the region say they're becoming increasingly concerned about the project.

    Goals from Alex Kiwomya and Danny Hollands earn Crewe a hard-fought win over Exeter in League Two.

    Chelsea loanee Kiwomya's first-half strike put the Railwaymen in front with the fourth goal of his loan spell at Gresty Road.

    Kiwomya punished Exeter's high line when he ran clear onto George Cooper's high ball over the top and fired into the bottom corner.

    A mother and two children had to be airlifted to hospital after a crash near Uttoxeter, external.

    It happened just after 13:00 on Sunday at the junction of Watery Lane and Holly Lane at Loxley Green.

    In all, three air ambulances, as well as land ambulances and paramedics were sent to the scene.

    West Midlands Ambulance Services said members of the public managed to pull the children from a car before they were taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital with "significant injuries".

    Port Vale snatched a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser as they drew with 10-man Peterborough.

    Alex Jones struck his fourth goal of the season from the penalty spot to haul the Valiants level at the ABAX Stadium after Posh had defender Andrew Hughes dismissed for deliberate handball by referee Graham Horwood.

    Jones had earlier opened the scoring in the sixth minute, firing home on the half-volley after Remie Streete nodded Ben Purkiss' right-wing delivery into his path.

    Staffordshire Police has disputed claims they will be moved into the Smithfield 1 building in two weeks.

    Council leader, Dave Conway, told BBC Radio Stoke that the building would be full in two weeks.

    Hanley police station is due to relocate there but a spokesperson for the force, external has only said it would be "before the end of the year".

    The controversial Smithfield 1 building will be full in the next two weeks, the leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council has told BBC Radio Stoke

    Dave Conway says staff from Hanley police station are moving in shortly, external.

    The building, part of a £55m development, narrowly missed out, external on being crowned the ugliest in the country last week.

    However, Smithfield 2 still isn't filled with just over 400 staff from private firm Water Plus now occupying the concrete building. The empty space is being marketed.

  16. 'More needed to tackle Crewe fly-tipping'published at 09:01 British Summer Time 12 September 2016

    Crewe is facing increasing problems of fly-tipping, according to Cheshire East Council.

    Councillors, who meet about it tomorrow, say more than 80% of fly-tipping incidents occur in the south, with Crewe by far the worst area. 

    The authority has now appointed two wardens in the town to tackle the problem. However, some local residents say more needs to be done.
