    City Road in Fenton is expected to reopen tomorrow morning following the burst water main that happened yesterday, flooding the road under the railway bridge.  

    A spokesperson for Severn Trent said: "We’d like to apologise to everyone for the delay but it was both a bigger job than we expected and also we had to complete the work safely."

    The new bishop of Lichfield, the Right Reverend Dr Michael Ipgrave OBE, will formally take on his role at a special service in Lichfield Cathedral tomorrow, on 24 September.

    Bishop Michael will arrive on foot at Lichfield Cathedral to take up his new role as the 99th bishop of the diocese, where the "enthronement" will begin.

    He is currently completing the final stage of a 40-mile stretch of the Two Saints Way pilgrimage trail from Stoke-on-Trent to Lichfield.

    A multi-story car-park won't be built in Hanley to alleviate pressure on other sites.

    Hinde Street Car Park has been inundated with drivers, with people putting it down to the hundreds of jobs at the Smithfield site. 

    Barry Brockbank, from the city council has said a new city-centre shopping development should fix the problem.

    There has been a delay in Crewe's leading scorer Alex Kiwomya undergoing a scan. 

    The on-loan Chelsea winger dislocated his shoulder in last weekend's 2-0 win at Grimsby.

    Kiwomya has returned to London for further assessment but his proposed scan this week was postponed. 

    Teenager Charlie Kirk is set to replace Kiwomya for tomorrow's home game against Blackpool.

    Police are investigating reports of a bogus caller in the Tamworth area claiming to represent antiques dealers.

    A man, described as being in his 50s with dark hair and around 5’9", offered to buy antique jewellery and collectables from a resident in Roach, police said. 

    However, upon further investigation, businesses confirmed they had no links to anyone looking to purchase antiques door-to-door.

    A man's appeared in court accused of burglary at a jewellers in Hanley earlier this year. 

    Cosmin Contantin Moraru was remanded in custody. He is due to appear next at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in October.

    The Birmingham man has been charged with one count of burglary and one count of conspiracy to commit burglary in connection with a break-in at Beaverbooks at Intu Potteries. 

    Jewellery and watches amounting to £400,000 were taken.

    Random testing in Newcastle has found a number of taxis to be unsafe. 

    Of the 26 vehicles stopped by Newcastle Borough Council and Staffordshire Police, four drivers were given fines - for offences like badly worn tyres or not wearing a seat-belt. 

    One had its taxi licence removed until repairs are carried out.

    A housing charity claims that one in eight tenants in the West Midlands has fallen victim to landlords breaking the law. 

    Research by Shelter , externaland YouGov found that tenants had suffered everything from abuse and harassment to seeing their belongings thrown out of the property and the locks changed. 

    Too often, the study says, people don't know their rights and need more help and advice.
