    Two people have been seriously hurt after a crash near Burton-on-Trent.

    Three ambulances, two air ambulances, a paramedic support officer and another crew were all sent to the scene. 

    The crash happened at around 08:00 this morning close to Belmot Golf Club in Needwood.

    A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service, external said a young girl had suffered serious injuries, while another passenger was treated for serious injuries. 

    In the second car, the driver, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital with knee and head injuries.  A 10-year-old boy was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

    Matthew Ellis, Police and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire, says Adrian McDonald's death was "tragic" and his "thoughts are with his family and friends".

    "The work of police officers is often dangerous and the incidents they attend can be chaotic," he said.

    "It is the job of the IPCC to provide independent investigation into the circumstances here and the CPS will decide if there is any criminal case to answer."

    Three police officers could be prosecuted after the death of a man in Staffordshire shortly after being tasered. 

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission has referred the case of three officers to the Crown Prosecution Service, external following the death of Adrian McDonald in 2014. 

    The 34-year-old was tasered during his arrest at a flat in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He was  taken to a police van and then became "unresponsive". He died at the scene, the IPCC said.

    Notices had previously been served on six Staffordshire Police officers advising them that their conduct was subject to the IPCC's investigation.

    Staffordshire Police have revealed more details from their latest driving crack-down, that led to 134 drivers caught for speeding. 

    The statistics show of the 22 cars stopped in Staffordshire, 13 of them had committed some form of driving related offence. 

    • Four were reported for not wearing seat belts 
    • One person arrested and charged with no insurance and using a mobile phone
    • One person arrested, tested positive for cannabis, provisional licence only and no insurance
    • One person reported for reversing on the M6 Toll road

    Drivers are being warned to avoid City Road in Fenton because a burst water main has closed the road. 

    Severn Trent have confirmed 36 properties are without water at the moment - the company is working to repair the pipe by the end of the day. 

    The road is closed in both directions at the railway bridge.

    A Staffordshire man has been remanded in custody by magistrates in Crewe accused of aggravated burglary. 

    The 48-year-old from Werrington was arrested by Cheshire Police on Monday following a serious assault on Wagg Street in Congleton on Sunday. 

    He's due to appear before Chester Crown Court next month.

    One hundred and twenty chickens have been stolen from a farm near Stone.  

    Police say they were taken from Meaford some time over the weekend.

    The same farm was targeted again in the early hours of this morning, when a tractor key was stolen from a barn.

    Some £400,000-worth of watches were taken from Beaverbooks at Intu Potteries in March.

    Police say the men, aged between 19 and 26, are being held on suspicion of burglary at a number of jewellers across the country.

    Staffordshire Police's latest road crackdown has led to 134 drivers caught for speeding. 

    The operation carried out yesterday was part of Project Edward - an acronym for European Day Without A Road Death, external in a bid to reduce the number of casualties. 

    Speed cameras were placed in three locations across the county, on the A53 in Stoke-on-Trent, on the A50 in Uttoxeter and the A5 in Tamworth.

    One driver was caught going 105mph on the A50 in Uttoxeter.   

    Two drivers were warned for not wearing a seat belt, while 12 drivers were reported for summons by police officers due to other offences.
