  1. One arrested over police pursuit that injured officerspublished at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2017

    Seven officers were injured and four police vehicles damaged in a 30-minute pursuit which started in Nuneaton and went through the Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire policing areas.

    The vehicle, a white van, failed to stop for police at around 02:50 while driving along Weddington Lane, Nuneaton, after reports it was following two women and causing them distress.

    The Warwickshire force was assisted by Staffordshire Police during the pursuit, which eventually ended on Pennine Way, Wilnecote, Staffordshire, when the van crashed with police vehicles.

    The injured officers didn't require treatment for their minor injuries.

    A 41-year-old man from Atherstone has been arrested.

    Peter Crouch said joining an elite club of just 26 players to score 100 Premier League goals had been an "emotional" moment for him.

    The Stoke striker reached the milestone in his side's 1-1 draw with Everton on Wednesday, some 15 years after opening his account in the English top flight.

    The Burton Albion manager has admitted that Fulham "were too good for us" as the Brewers lost 2-0 to them at home.

    In a first half of few chances, Burton midfielder, Lloyd Dyer, was denied by the legs of David Button, while Scott Malone fired inches wide for Fulham.

    The visitors went ahead through Stefan Johansen's shot from the edge of the box three minutes after the break.

    Johansen twice went close to grabbing a second before Malone fired into the roof of the net to secure the victory.

    A dog has died after it was found emaciated, bleeding and tied to a road sign in Crewe. 

    The RSPCA says a woman spotted the large Dogue de Bordeaux on Birchall Walk on Tuesday, 24 January.

    The charity say she rushed the dog to a local vets before alerting them but say the dog was in such bad condition she died. 

    The animal welfare charity says staff weighed the dog at 36kg (79lbs) - adult dogs of that breed should weigh 55-65kg (121-143lbs).

    The Labour MP for Newcastle-under-Lyme was among 47 rebels in the party to defy leader Jeremy Corbyn and vote against the European Union Bill last night.

    Paul Farrelly said he would judge matters on what he thought was in the best interest of the country and the people he represents. 

    Mr Corbyn had imposed a three-line whip - the strongest sanction at his disposal - on his MPs to vote in favour of the government's Brexit bill.  

    MPs backed the bill by 498 votes to 114 and the government is to set out its strategy for Brexit by publishing a document today.

    A man has been rescued from his vehicle this morning , externalafter it got stuck in flood water in Stafford, the fire service say. 

    Two fire crews were sent by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to Doxey Road , externaljust before 09:30. 

    They say they rescued the trapped man from his stranded vehicle and called an ambulance out to check him over.

    Around 100 jobs could be lost at two colleges in Staffordshire under money-saving plans.

    Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stafford Colleges merged last November , externaland now say, after reviewing the new organisation, savings of around £2m are needed.

    They say they've seen a drop in funding because they haven't been able to attract enough students to Stafford College. 

    The colleges say in a statement they've now started a 45-day consultation with trade unions. 

    They add that they believe there will be "little effect" on "front line" teaching staff and students.

    The goal was initially ruled out for offside after Romelu Lukaku strayed beyond the last Stoke outfield player, but after a conversation between referee Craig Pawson and his assistant, the decision was reversed.
