    Highways England is urging truck drivers and bikers not to use a stretch of the M6 in Staffordshire tomorrow while a warning for Storm Doris is in place.

    Warning

    With heavy rain and winds of up to 70mph predicted, it says the exposed area from Keele services to J16 for Crewe is likely to feel the full force of the storm. 

    In total, the agency is warning owners of high-sided vehicles, caravans and motorcyclists to avoid around 40 stretches of motorway and A roads between 06:00 and 18:00.

    A north Staffordshire miner's wife who rose to prominence in the 1980s during the miner's strikes has died.

    Brenda Procter, from Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent, ran the North Staffordshire Miners Wives' Action Group.

    She was also an active member of Women Against Pit Closures for more than 30 years. 

    Her family has confirmed she passed away this morning after a short illness.

    Bovis Homes have told us they will do all they can to fix issues for residents who have dealt with flooded sewage, damp and mould in their new homes.

    It has set aside £7m to compensate customers who were sold unfinished builds or properties with electrical and plumbing faults. 

    The house builders have properties for sale in Great Barr, Redditch and Lichfield. 

    Bovis Homes say they are sorry for any issues and are talking directly to residents involved.

    A Staffordshire winery is hoping to capitalise on the growing demand in China for British food and drinks. 

    They've been making wine at Buzzards Valley, near Tamworth, for the last 15 years.

    Now they've been chosen as one of a number of West Midlands' companies to exhibit in Shanghai next month. 

    In 2015 alone, China consumed more than 130m cases of red wine.

    A social worker in Staffordshire who was suspended last August has been struck off for a further six months. 

    David John Steare was suspended on the grounds of misconduct while working for Staffordshire County Council. 

    A panel of the Health and Care Professions Council heard that he'd failed to pass on information about a high-risk child who was self harming.

    A father accused of murdering his young son and daughter has appeared in court.

    Endris Mohammed, 46, has been charged with killing Saros Endris, eight, and six-year-old Leanor Endris.

    He is also accused of attempting to murder the children's mother, Penil Teklehaimanot.

    Mohammed was rescued from a burning vehicle in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, just hours after a fire at the children's house in Holland Road in Hamstead, Birmingham in October 2016.

    He was due to enter pleas at Birmingham Crown Court today but the case was adjourned for further reports. He is next due in court on 26 June.

    It's simple, it's quick, it does cost over £3,000 but it could save a teenager's life. 

    Today, heart screening sessions are being held in the Staffordshire Moorlands in memory of a 17-year-old from Biddulph who died from an undiagnosed heart condition. 

    The screenings are being held at Knypersley Cricket Club and orgainser Nicola Everill says she hopes they will screen 100 people today.
