    The Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says signing three players early in the closed season has eased the pressure on them to make a signing just for the sake of completing one.

    The mother of a 10-year-old girl from Cheshire who has cystic fibrosis says she's had a double lung transplant and it was a "huge success".

    Elle Grace Morris from Wrenbury has become known on social media for, external "Elle's Wishes" - a series of things she wanted to achieve before her 10th birthday.

    They included meeting X Factor stars Olly Murs and Rita Ora and being a princess for a day.

    She's spent the past few weeks at Great Ormond Street Hospital where the operation was carried out. Her mother says she's "coming out the other side" after coping with the side effects of the drugs used in the transplant.

  4. Hospitals trust suffers second cyber-attack in two monthspublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    A hospital trust has been targeted by a cyber-attack for the second time in two months.

    On Friday, the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) would only confirm it had suffered a "cyber incident" and at the time refused to describe it as an attack.

    But today, it's admitted the IT department had detected several computers were infected with ransomware called WannaCry.

    That type of cyber-attack, which locks users out of their computers, swept the world last month and saw the NHS particularly badly hit, including the UHNM.

    But the trust says it had learned from that and, having detected the virus, contained and removed it, saying there was no disruption to patients or hospital services.

    On Friday, it said staff had to abandon at least one computer system and make notes on paper.

    A man's been charged in connection with the stabbing of another man in Stoke-on-Trent at the weekend. , external

    Reports of the incident on Barks Drive came in to Staffordshire Police at around 01:15 yesterday morning.

    The force says the victim is in a stable condition in hospital and his injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.

    Officers have charged a 25-year-old man with grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating.

    The competitors took part in a swim, bike ride and run through the countryside, starting at Chasewater and finishing at Shugborough.

    The county council says professional athletes Giulio Molinari and Lucy Gossage were the winners with Gossage taking her third Staffordshire Ironman win.
