    A cyclist is in a critical condition in hospital, external after suffering serious head injuries in a collision near to Alrewas.

    Staffordshire Police says the 42-year-old man from Rugeley was cycling in a group of 30-40 cyclists on the A513 yesterday evening.

    It's claimed recycled waste has been taken away with general refuse at a Newcastle Cricket Club.

    Kevin Bennett is in charge of recycling at Whitmore Cricket Club and he says he's disappointed his efforts to recycle glass bottles are now pointless because the council now just crushes them.

    Newcastle Borough Council says it's looking for a solution to recycle glass but in the meantime it's incinerated because they don't have a vehicle to collect it.

    A boy has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car near to Madeley High School.

    The collision happened on Newcastle Road around 15:30.

    Staffordshire Police said the boy, aged 11, is being airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
