    We've just had a statement this morning from the building firm Seddon Homes, which runs the construction site in Crewe where a crane collapsed.

    The firm's chief executive says the incident happened as the crane was being erected and has confirmed the two men who died were working on the site at the time.

    He says they can't speculate on what caused the collapse but promised a full investigation with Seddon Homes working closely with both the emergency services and the Health and Safety Executive.

    A fire in a factory in Crewe this morning spread to three floors before fire crews arrived. , external

    Cheshire Fire Service says the blaze at Morning Foods Ltd on Gresty Road was in a dust unit at the site which is usually part of the air quality system.

    They say it was "well alight" when they got there and was on the ground, first and second floors.

    Six fire engines were called out and they say they're checking now to make sure the fire's fully out.

    I'm in Middlewich this morning where the funeral is taking place for Nell Jones, one of the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing last month.

    Friends have been arriving already at the church in the town for the service to remember the 14-year-old from Goostrey.

    The company working on the building site where a crane collapsed in Crewe has told BBC Radio Stoke they don't want to comment at this time on what's happened.

    An investigation is ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.

    The BBC's been told the crane was on Dunwoody Way because homes are being built by Seddon Homes on the site.

    Late last night police confirmed two men had died after it collapsed and a third man, thought to be the crane driver, has serious injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

    Residents living near to where a crane collapsed in Crewe are being reassured "nobody else is at risk", despite it damaging a property.

    Emergency services worked at the scene on Dunwoody Way from 16:32 yesterday and confirmed late last night that two men had died and others injured.

    I've been down to the site where a crane collapsed in Crewe this morning and it is extremely quiet.

    Several police cars are still on the scene with police tape around the area on Dunwoody Way where the force last night confirmed two men have died.

    Behind the red hoardings surrounding the building site where the collapse happened you can see a huge pile of waste and mud and, beyond that, the crane itself.

    Passers-by are still stopping every so often to stare at the area while at a nearby Morrisons, their flags are at half-mast and they've been supplying water and support to the emergency services.

    League Two side Port Vale have re-signed ex-Valiants defender Joe Davis from Fleetwood on a two-year deal.

    They have also signed Burton Albion goalkeeper Sam Hornby, 22, also on a two-year deal - the second keeper to move to Vale Park in as many days.

    High-rise tower blocks in Stoke-on-Trent are to undergo "improvement work" in light of the Grenfell Tower fire in London including fitting sprinkler systems to all of them., external

    The city council says the work had been in the planning process since January, but the disaster last week, in which at least 79 people died, has caused them to gather more significance.

    A 30-year plan has been created to ensure all council-owned properties are "fully safety compliant, exceed fire regulations and provide quality accommodation for residents".

    The multimillion-pound project includes fitting sprinkler systems into all 16 high rise tower blocks in the city as well as improved fire alarm systems and CCTV.

    Two men have died and another man has been airlifted to hospital after a crane collapsed.

    A parent and child were also taken to hospital as a precaution after a house was damaged by the crane, in Crewe.

    The airlifted man, believed to be the crane driver, has serious injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

    Cheshire Fire and Rescue's major incident unit attended and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been informed of the accident.

    I've been speaking to people gathered around the police cordon just yards from where this crane has collapsed in Crewe.

    They've told me they understand that the crane, which can be seen over the top of boardings, was actually lifting up another crane when it fell.

    The fire service says they have now divided up the scene of this collapse so they can investigate what has happened.
