    A woman injured in a crash on Saturday night has been released from hospital.

    The 39-year-old, was driving one of the cars and suffered head and eye injuries.

    A 10-year-old girl had her lower leg amputated below the knee.

    A 35-year old man was arrested at the scene for providing a positive road side breath test and has been released under investigation.

    The incident happened on Hempstalls Lane at the junction with Beattie Avenue at about 22:30.

    Stoke City defender Erik Pieters says the team must learn lessons from the 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

    The Potters go into their next game at home to the champions Chelsea having taken five points from the opening five games of the season.

  3. Appeal to trace movements of man whose body was found in recyclingpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    A week since a man's body was found among recycling in an outbuilding, Staffordshire Police are renewing an appeal to trace Adam Forrester's movements.

    The 30-year-old was found in a building at Sneyd Industrial Estate in Stoke-on-Trent last Tuesday.

    Staffordshire Police say the cause of his death has not yet been established.

    The force said the last sighting of Mr Forrester was at McColls store, in Newcastle Street, Middleport, at 21:30 Monday night. It is then believed Mr Forrester went out in Hanley.

  4. Woman jailed for starving ponypublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    A woman from Stone who starved her pony has been jailed and disqualified for keeping animals for life.

    Following an investigation by the RSPCA, Judith Bedson, 50, from Longton Road was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to the three-year-old colt named Apache and failing to meet his needs.

    Apache has now made a full recovery. He is currently being cared for at a private boarding facility.

    Police are assisting with a wide load which is travelling through the city.

    Its next stop is Newcastle-under-Lyme, where it will then move through into Cheshire.

  6. Biker was 'showing off'published at 14:16 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    A motorcyclist filmed pulling wheelies and travelling up to speeds of 117mph (188kmph) has been told by a judge "you were showing off".

    Passing sentence, Judge David Fletcher described the footage of Pawel Zietowski's riding as "hair-raising".

    Pawel Zietowski, 27, from Warrington, Cheshire has been sentenced to eight months in prison and has been suspended from driving for 28 months.

    "I wanted that to be played in open court because I wanted to be sure that you had seen it," the judge told Zietowski.

    "You were pulling wheelies on a number of occasions and at one point you were standing up with no hands on the handlebars.

    "This was a piece of appalling driving."

    A man has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a flat fire in Leek.

    Crews from Hanley and Longton were called to the incident on Ashbourne Road at about 07:15 this morning.

    The man in his 40s suffered smoke inhalation and was given oxygen therapy by firefighters.

    The cause of the fire, which Staffordshire Fire and Rescue says started in the kitchen, was due to cooking that was left unattended.

    It had set fire to tea towels hanging next to the hob and spread to nearby plastic bags.

  10. Biker jailed for M6 wheeliespublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    A motorcyclist who performed wheelies and took a selfie while driving on the M6 has been jailed for eight months.

    Pawel Zietowski, 27, was filmed by an unmarked police patrol for 16 minutes as he used his thighs to steer the bike and even rummaged through a backpack to find a mobile phone.

    He was also given a driving ban of 28 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

    Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said officers filmed Zietowski in June between junction 12 and Stafford services.

    Zietowski, formerly of Harlow in Essex but now of Higham Avenue, Warrington, Cheshire, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at a previous hearing.

    Insp Sion Hathway, from CMPG, said: "Such dangerous riding will not be tolerated on our roads.

    "Zietowski showed a blatant disregard for the rules of the road, and fellow motorists. His antics could have easily resulted in tragedy."

    Police in Stoke-on-Trent are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in the city centre.

    Staffordshire Police says a woman in her 20s was assaulted near Fountain Square, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

    The man is described as white, in his mid-twenties, 5ft6 and of a slim build.

  13. Plans for more jobs at National Forestpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    Plans to create more than 700 new jobs by increasing tourism in the National Forest will be revealed today.

    The forest covers 200 square miles of the Midlands including large parts of Staffordshire.

    More than seven million people visit it every year and contribute £376m to the local economy.

    The new tourism growth plan hopes to increase that figure by 15%.

    Port Vale begin a new week in search for a full-time replacement for Michael Brown.

    The Vale parted company with Brown on Saturday night after a run of seven league games without a win, leaving the club bottom of League Two.

    The 40-year-old was appointed on a full-time basis in May, having been in caretaker charge since December 2016.

    The project aims to commemorate notable people with connections to the city - past and present.

    The finished artwork will be installed in Hanley in 2018, bearing the names of the winners of the public vote.

    A man has died after his van hit trees in a crash in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

    The 31-year-old died at the scene on Beat Lane, Rushton Spencer in the early hours of Sunday morning, Staffordshire Police said.
