    One of the attractions at Latitude is the chance to take a dip in the lake, but no-one was swimming yesterday evening (it was closed), although I was told there had been "loads" of people in the lake earlier. 

    The swimming is being run by Fat Face and a spokesman said: "No-one was getting out and saying it was actually cold."

    Martin Mitchell, from Cambridge, has hired three "deluxe" glamping tents at the three-day Latitude Festival at Henham Park, near Southwold, for six of his family for a total cost of £2,500.

    "I would happily slum it, but my wife Alice wouldn't come to festivals if we didn't do it in such luxury," he said. 

    "It's good value - you get breakfast included, minimal queues for showers, your stuff is brought to your tent from the car park and you get use of a glampers' bar near the main stage. 

    "The staff seem like old friends and the service is fantastic."

    Now for a look at how the other half (or is it 1%?) live. The glamping area at Latitude has about 150 residences.

    Bobbi McCaughan, glampsite manager, said: "People love it and about 60% of customers are returnees."

    She told me: "This year we've added six 'suites' which cost £3,500 here, although they cost £10,000 when we were at Glastonbury. 

    "It's for people who are accustomed to staying in five-star hotels." A more modest yurt, which still has electricity, will set you back £500.

    To put that into context, a standard adult festival ticket with normal camping costs £205.15.

    The jury at Ipswich Crown Court in the trial of optometrist Honey Rose is due to resume its deliberations this morning.

    She denies the manslaughter through gross negligence of eight-year-old Vinnie Barker, who died in 2012,

    Turning to other news now, a woman has died following a collision at Walpole, near Halesworth.

    Police were called just before 18:00 yesterday to reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Peasenhall Road.

    A man and a woman were on the motorcycle. Attempts were made to resuscitate the woman, however she died at the scene.

    The man was airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

    A new traffic plan introduced this year for festival-goers to Latitude, external seems to be making a difference, according to what we've heard from various people. 

    Some campers say a trip that took nine hours last year, has this year taken just over an hour, and our colleagues Richard Haugh and Andrew Woodger both reported hassle-free journeys.

    The Latitude Festival, external has grown exponentially since its launch 10 years ago. In the first year, 8,000 people attended; now it's 40,000 per day.

    Latitude has been voted amongs the Top 10 festivals in the world, by The Times, Independent, Time Out Magazine and Hello!.

    It's the biggest spoken word festival in Europe, and also has the biggest comedy line-up in one place.

    Felixstowe & Walton's Under-14s returned home from the 2016 ESF Grand Finale at St George’s Park with the Championship trophy.

    With 1,200 boys and girls teams participating every year, the ESF Festival of Football is the UK’s biggest event of it's kind.

    Martyn Young, from ESF Events, said: “To be crowned Grand Finale Champions really is a fantastic achievement. The players and coaches and supporters should be really proud of themselves."

    Suffolk nurse Will Pooley, who contracted Ebola while working in Sierra Leone in 2014, has been given an honorary degree for services to nursing by the University of Essex, external.

    He said people couldn't forget the dangers that diseases posed: "Memories are short and it's really something we need to stay aware of, and as things like this emerge, we need to be prepared to put a little bit of effort and resources into tackling these problems.

    "This threat will  never go away."

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a fire at a home in Haverhill this morning.

    Police were contacted by the fire service just after 08:25 to reports of a fire at a home in Abington Place. A short time later it was confirmed that everyone was out of the property, but that the fire was thought to be suspicious.

    A 22-year-old man from the town was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and assault. He's been taken into custody at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

    Chris Athorne's story with BBC Introducing in Suffolk goes back nearly seven years, and a new chapter will be written this coming Sunday at Latitude.

    The Boxford singer-songwriter represented us at Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2011 with This Boy Wonders, and will perform as Oktoba, external at Henham Park this weekend.   

    "This will be my biggest show to date since starting this solo project," he said. "I've got some nice festival tunes and hopefully the crowd will like them."

    Ryan Gallant is preparing for the biggest gig of his life to date. The 22-year-old producer and rapper (left) will perform as Muckaniks on the Lake Stage at Latitude on Saturday afternoon.

    We first saw Ryan perform live back in April when he played for us at the John Peel Centre in Stowmarket, and we just had to get him involved at Henham Park.

    "I'm going to turn the Lake Stage into the fire stage!" Ryan promises. "Next week a track of mine will be played on Radio 1 as well. I didn't think this year could get any better!"
