    After a couple of seasons plagued by injury, David McGoldrick's appearance for Ipswich Town for the 4-2 defeat of Barnsley on the opening day of the season felt like a new signing.

    However, just one league and one cup game into the new campaign, Blues fans have learned today that arguably the best player at the club will be out of action for at least two months. 

    The 28-year-old (pictured) suffered ankle ligament damage during Tuesday's EFL Cup loss to Stevenage at Portman Road, and club legend John Wark despairs for the Republic of Ireland international. 

    "I really feel sorry for him," Wark said. "He will be a major loss as I thought he was getting back to his best and he is the one that can undo defences."

    After a four-year exile, Chris Warn's been recalled by Suffolk for Sunday's Minor Counties Championship, external game at Buckinghamshire.

    The 37-year-old hasn't played for the county since the final match of 2012, after becoming disenchanted with the way the side was being run.

    Warn said: “It came as a complete shock. My immediate reaction was ‘aren’t there other batsmen available?’

    “But when coach Andy Northcote explained the situation that he needs experience it made more sense and I'm more than happy to fill in. 

    "It's an honour to play for your county."

    Suffolk will field their strongest seam attack of the season in their final Minor Counties Championship, external game, according to coach Andy Northcote.

    Mark Nunn (pictured) is recalled for Sunday's trip to Buckinghamshire, after being unavailable for the last two matches.

    The other pace bowlers are Matt Wareing, Tom Rash and ex-Essex man Matt Salisbury.

    "Our seam attack is the best we have managed to put out all year and is pleasing to see," said Northcote.

    The duo will appear again for Great Britain against Spain in a match the Brits can't afford to lose if they are to progress to the quarter-finals. 

    At present Bobby Crutchley's side is fifth in their group, with only the top four going through. 

    GB need to better fourth-placed New Zealand's score today, with the Kiwis in action against Belgium.

    We've just spoken to the grandmother and grandson who did tandem skydives this morning at Ellough Airfield, external.

    Judy Over said: "It was absolutely brilliant, surreal, great, great fun. Have I really just done that?"

    Harry Croft added: "It was insane. I'm over the moon that she's done it."

  7. Grandmother and grandson do tandem sky dives for charitypublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 12 August 2016

    A teenager has matched his grandmother's achievement as she did a tandem sky dive to raise money for charity.

    Harry Croft, 16, from Toppesfield in Essex, is pictured at Ellough Airfield near Beccles, with Judy Overy, who lives in Southwold, just before they took off.

    The pair were raising money for the charity CRY, external, which researches and supports young people at risk of cardiac disease. 

    Harry's uncle Simon collapsed and died at the age of 21.

    He said: "I didn't get to know my uncle Simon, but what we do today, I hope he's proud of us, wherever he is now."

    Ipswich Town, external have suffered a major blow on the injury front with news that striker David McGoldrick will be out of action for at least eight to ten weeks.

    The 28-year-old suffered ankle ligament damage during Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Stevenage in the League Cup, after coming on as a second half substitute.

    Earlier today, it was confirmed that Luke Varney will be returning to Ipswich on a short term deal, to provide cover.

    Ipswich Town, external have re-signed striker Luke Varney on a short term deal until January.

    The 33-year-old left Portman Road at the end of last season when his previous contract expired.

    It'll be Varney's third stint as an Ipswich player after an initial loan spell from Blackburn.

    He's been handed the number 12 shirt and will be in the squad at Brentford tomorrow.

    A Southwold grandmother has done a tandem parachute jump at Ellough Airfield near Beccles, to raise money for a charity that works to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death.

    Judy Overy, 75, (pictured with daughter Sally and grandson Harry Croft) chose the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, external, because her son Simon died in 1991 at the age of 21.

    Speaking before the jump, she said: "This is to help with the research, so young people can be screened just in case."

    Last year, Bialkowski kept seven clean-sheets in 20 Championship games, helping him win both the Supporters and Players' Player of the Year awards.

    The 29-year-old, who's due to start at Brentford tomorrow, says that's in stark contrast to his native Poland.

    "When I came to England, and when you're winning 1-0 or 2-0, the other team never gives up, they keep pushing forward," he said. 

    "You don't get that in Poland. When you watch some games in the Polish League, and a team's losing 1-0 or 2-0, it's not your day so you just accept it." 

    "In England it's totally different, everyone wants to give everything."

    "I looked at their team-sheet and there's quite a few different names on there. They've lost a few players and they've changed it around and brought players in," said McCarthy.

    Ipswich Witches, external team manager Ritchie Hawkins admits he didn't expect his side to secure a fifth successive home win so comfortably.

    Last night's 56-34 victory over Scunthorpe Scorpions, external extends the Witches' unbeaten run to six meetings and lifts them into the Premier League play-off places.

    "Obviously we needed the three points and I thought it was going to be a tough night, but they struggled with the track conditions and had a couple of crashes which knocked them back," said Hawkins. 

    "Our boys handled it well again and were impressive."
