    The thermometer in my car registered -5 (23F) as I drove through Beyton on my way to work this morning.

    While it's nice to have arrived safely at BBC Suffolk, I've got to say it doesn't feel a lot warmer in the newsroom either.

    Ipswich Town's under 23s were in action this afternoon and they lost 3-1 at Bristol City. 

    Striker Ben Morris got on the scoresheet for Gerard Nash's side but Town couldn't keep the Robins at bay.

    Andre Dozzell, Kundai Benyu and Adam McDonnell were the highest profile players to feature.

  5. River Stour: Debris has been cleared and gate is working normallypublished at 17:03 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    The Environment Agency has told us the debris which was preventing a control gate from working properly, which led to a huge drop in levels on the River Stour at Sudbury, has been cleared by divers.

    A spokeswoman added: "A specialist dive team trained to study this type of structure was able to come early today to have a look at what may have caused the automatic control gate to jam open. 

    "The dive team was able to raise the gate freeing the debris and allowing the gate to return to normal operation. 

    "Now that the gate is operational again the river levels should return to normal over the next couple days.

    "We monitored the river levels throughout the incident and moved approximately 10,000 fish to deeper water."

    It's 100 years since the downing of Zeppelin L21 off the coast of Lowestoft, and to mark the occasion, a letter is being read out at an illustrated talk in the town, from the grand-nephew of one of the Germans who died in the crash.

    Bob Collis, from the Lowestoft Aviation Society, external, said the letter asks for the town's forgiveness, on behalf of his relative, "for the deaths of local people in Zeppelin raids", and asks too, for people to remember the young men who died on board the German airship.

    He added that it was reported at the time there was "great rejoicing" when the Zeppelin was shot down - the previous year six people had been killed in the bombardment of Lowestoft and two Zeppelin raids.

  7. Application lodged for appeal against Lauri extraditionpublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    The solicitor for alleged computer hacker Lauri Love has lodged an application to appeal against his extradition to the United States.

    Two weeks ago, home secretary Amber Rudd signed an extradition order for Mr Love, following a previous court ruling that he should face trial in the United States.

    The 31-year-old, from Stradishall, is accused of hacking into computers of the FBI, the US central bank and the country's missile defence agency.

    Returning to the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre, John Harris has emailed us saying: "As a resident of Bury I’m not sure that the town has the infrastructure to support an event on this scale.  

    "I cycled out of the town on Saturday and noticed that one of the bigger car parks was already full by 09:30. 

    "Trying to do anything or go anywhere is incredibly difficult when the Fayre is on. 

    "Something smaller scale just on Angel Hill would be more appropriate in my view."

    Good news from the East Anglian Daily Times, external about potholes - but have you ever successfully applied for compensation? 

    I recently tried to claim after a pothole, on Mount Road between Thurston and Bury St Edmunds, damaged my wheel and tyre beyond repair, but to no avail.

  11. Corrie Mckeague: CCTV footage 'now viewed till 12'published at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Corrie Mckeague's mum says CCTV from the area on the night he disappeared in Bury St Edmunds has now been viewed until midday on Saturday, 24 September - about nine hours after he was last seen on such footage.

    Writing on the "Find Corrie" Facebook page, Nicola Urquhart says, external: "Tony [Wringe - Corrie's uncle] will write a new one [update] for us once I've been updated and can hopefully give some positive news about identifications and new images of those still not identified. 

    "We will update you all as soon as possible..... CCTV has now been viewed till 12 on Sat."

    Last week a police pod was set up at the town's Christmas Fayre, external, in an attempt to identify about 20 people seen on the footage who had not yet been identified.

  12. Anti-social behaviour leads to library closurepublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    An outbreak of anti-social behaviour, including one girl trying to attack another girl, has led to library bosses making the decision to close the Lowestoft branch, external at 17:00 over the winter period - an hour or two earlier than current weekday nights.

    Head of Suffolk Libraries, external, Alison Wheeler, said they had a similar problem last year: "We've got a group of young people, they don't really understand rules, they're not really prepared to take notice of the effect of their behaviour on other people.

    She says there was an incident where "one girl tried to attack another girl, and a member of our staff tried to calm the situation down", adding that it could have turned out to be a very nasty situation.

    "To take the heat out of the situation, for a period of 12 weeks, we're going to close the library at 5 o'clock, which is when I think most of the incidents start to escalate," she added.

    The 46-year-old from Mendham was beaten 11-8 by Dave Chisnall in the semi-finals.

    "I'm in a good half of the draw [at the World Championship], I've only got one extremely good player in my half and if he gets that far I play him in the semi-finals and then beat him there. 

    "All the other guys can bash each other up in the other half."

    The World Championship starts on 5 December at London's Alexandra Palace.

    Richard Frogley writes: "We would have loved to go the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre, but we were unable to due to the woefully inadequate infrastructure on getting the vast volume of people in their cars into & parked in the town. 

    "A problem often encountered at weekends, but horrendous yesterday morning."

    Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has reportedly suffered a cut to his face - at the hands of Princess Beatrice.

    According to the Sun newspaper, external, Beatrice, who is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, cut Ed's face with a sword while pretending to knight James Blunt at a party.

    The paper claims she hadn't realised the Framlingham superstar (pictured in happier days) was standing behind her.
