    Suffolk's Peter Wright pulled off one of his best ever Premier League, external victories last night.

    The 46-year-old from Mendham beat twice world champion, and current world number two, Gary Anderson 7-5. 

    It means Wright's won two and lost one of his three matches so far. 

    There were also wins for Phil Taylor, James Wade, Michael van Gerwen and Dave Chisnall.

  2. Family of Paul Gladwell say he had Asperger Syndromepublished at 09:23 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2017

    The family of Paul Gladwell, the Colchester man who died after being arrested at the Pontins resort near Lowestoft, say he had Asperger Syndrome (an autistic spectrum disorder, external).

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the case. Mr Gladwell was being taken to the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre, when officers realised he needed medical treatment.

    He died at James Paget Hospital yesterday.

    Police were called to the holiday park by security to investigate reports of a fight between holiday-makers.

    Andrea Water, from SAFE - a support group for people and families affected by Asperger Syndrome, says people with the condition "typically do suffer with anxiety".

    "If they were really agitated, they could lash out and become aggressive or they could run," she added. 

    "It would be very hard for them to communicate how they are feeling."

    He celebrates by releasing a new single, How Would You Feel (Paean). "It's not the next single, but is one of my favzzzzz," he wrote on Twitter, external, while his English teacher sobbed with despair.

    Or maybe he/she was delighted with his use of the word 'paean' which, to non-Classic Greek speakers, means 'a song of triumph'.

    Fans of Thinking Out Loud will be pleased - this is a totally swoonsome ballad about telling someone you love them for the first time (and hoping they say it back).

  5. Pontins holiday camp death: Paul Gladwell had 'heart of gold'published at 08:28 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2017

    A man arrested at a holiday park who later died in hospital had a "heart of gold", one of his friends has said.

    Paul Gladwell, 38, from Colchester, was detained by staff at Pontins in Pakefield near Lowestoft on Tuesday and was later arrested on suspicion of assault by Suffolk Police.

    He was taken to James Paget Hospital in Gorleston when officers became concerned for his wellbeing while on the way to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre.

    His friend Jane Harvey said she had not been able to take in the news of his death.

    "It's come as a terrible shock," she said. "As soon as I was told about his death I completely lost it, I got hysterical - I couldn't help it."

    A Newmarket-based jockey who's been paralysed from the waist down since a fall at Kempton in October, says he's going to be back in the saddle next week.

    Freddy Tylicki said: "I'm going to have a riding lesson next Wednesday.. it's been offered to me and I've accepted the challenge with both hands.

    "Not sure what it's going to be like but I'm really looking forward to it.

    "Obviously it's not going to be a racehorse, it'll be something slower, but life goes on, you've got to make the most of it and roll on next Wednesday. 

    "To be sitting on horseback again, it's going to be amazing... it's something I've always done and something I love."

    The BBC has been speaking to relatives of Paul Gladwell, who died after an incident and his subsequent arrest at Pontins holiday camp near Lowestoft.

    The 38-year-old from Colchester was a father-of-three.

    His family have made complaints on social media about how an alleged confrontation and its aftermath was handled by Pontins and Suffolk Police.

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating, but Suffolk Police and Pontins have not issued any comment or statements themselves.

  13. Fourteen-year-olds arrested in connection with 'gunpoint' robberiespublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

    Two teenage boys have been arrested following two robberies in Ipswich last night.

    In one of the incidents, at about 23:30 in the Princes Street area, two men reported being threatened at gunpoint and ordered to hand over cash.

    One of the 14-year-olds is from Ipswich, the other from County Durham.

    The boys are also being interviewed by police in connection with a robbery at about 21:10 in Old Foundry Road.

    Detectives investigating the murder of Dean Stansby in Ipswich on 8 February have carried out checks a week after he was stabbed.

    Mr Stansby, 41, from Trimley St Mary, was taken from Ancaster Road to Ipswich Hospital for treatment but died a short time later.

    Between 17:00 and 20:00 yesterday more than 70 people were spoken to by officers, who handed out appeal leaflets in and around the junction near the railway station. 

    Three people are currently on police bail in connection with the incident.
