"Invariably, someone would take a look and a few weeks later they'd send you a cheque. Very nice too."

  12. 'Disappointment' at village hall hit-and-run crashpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 4 April 2017

    Luke Deal
    BBC Radio Suffolk

Back to a story we brought to you this morning.

Those who run a village hall which was damaged in a hit-and-run incident have expressed their "disappointment".

    Ovens inside Crowfield Village Hall

Suffolk Police are hunting for the driver who hit Crowfield Village Hall at some point between Thursday and Saturday.

There are cracks up the wall, large ovens inside the building have been pushed about 50cm (20in) away from the wall and a number of bookings for the hall have had to be cancelled.

The hall's management committee said it will take until mid-May to finish repairs.

Les Arnold, chairman of the committee, said: "By the position of the major damage, which is about 4ft (122cm) above the ground, it was a van or a heavy vehicle of some sort, possibly reversing.

"What's distressing is that someone has backed into it and not told anyone about it.

"I first I felt anger, now disgust and disappointment."
