Dean Greygoose's side had already won the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division title, ending their campaign nine points clear at the top of the table.

"I'm so proud of the players," Greygoose told us. "We have done something that hasn't been done for a long, long time and we've made history for the club.

"This is why I manage. I could go and get a job full time in an academy or push myself to get a job as a first team goalkeeping coach, but this is as close you can get to playing, and it's worth it for this feeling."

  2. National Portrait Gallery acquires painting of Ed Sheeranpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

He's all over the singles chart and now he's all over the wall at the National Portrait Gallery.

The museum in London has acquired a new portrait of Ed Sheeran, painted by Belfast-based artist Colin Davidson.

It's Ed's first ever painted portrait and measures four feet square - so just a little taller than Ed is (sorry Ed, joke mate).

Ed sat for the artist at his home in Suffolk in 2015 for three hours, during which Davidson made twenty drawings from life and took reference photographs.

Colin Davidson said: ‘When painting a portrait I am looking for the moment when the person is almost unaware of me being there and I feel I got it with Ed.

"I deliberately didn’t want Ed to perform and that was odd for him.

"But there is a youthful aspect to the portrait but also something experienced beyond his years."

Is it us, or does he look familiar?

"Nico has had some metal work taken out of his wrist and some more metal work put back in. He also had a skin graft which could take time to recover," he said.

"It was important to go into Thursday's meeting, particularly as it's against a side as good as Glasgow, with as many of our own men as we could."

  11. Tragedy as Steps fail to oust Ed Sheeran from number onepublished at 09:27 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    StepsImage source, PA

Steps' comeback album Tears On The Dancefloor was 4,000 sales ahead of Ed's ÷ (Divide) at one point last week.

But like a 3-0 first half lead over FC Barcelona, you need a much bigger margin than that over chart-slayer Ed.

He fought back to claim a seventh week at the top of the album charts,

Clean Bandit succeeded where Steps failed though.

They, like Harry Styles before them, knocked Ed off the top of the singles charts with their track Symphony, which features the vocal talents of Super Swede Zara Larsson.

Something tells us Ed might be back at the top again soon.

Here's the new chart-toppers performing their #1 track on US TV below.

  14. Demand 'outstripped' ambulance resourcespublished at 08:38 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

The region's ambulance service says they were "inundated" with calls on the day an 86-year-old woman was left lying on the floor for six hours at her sheltered accommodation in Ipswich.

Spokesman Karl Edwards said: "We're conducting a thorough investigation which will give us the full details but, in essence, on that particular day, we got absolutely inundated with treble nine activity.

"Every ambulance that was allocated [to Mrs Versey] then got allocated to a more life-threatening response.

"The pure demand of our service just outstripped the resources that we had available."

  15. Demand 'outstripped' resources on day elderly patient waited hours for ambulancepublished at 08:19 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

The region's ambulance service says it was inundated with 999 calls, on the day a woman in her 80s was left lying on the floor waiting for an ambulance for six hours.

    Betty Versey

Spokesman Karl Edwards said: "We're conducting a thorough investigation which will give us the full details but in essence, on that particular day, we got absolutely inundated with treble-nine activity and every ambulance that was allocated [to the patient] then got allocated to a more life-threatening response.

"The pure demand on our service just outstripped the resources that we had available."

Betty Versey, 86, who suffered a fall at her sheltered accommodation in Ipswich, is still in hospital.

Her son-in-law Paul Copping, who told us last week he was outraged by the wait, said: "I'm still not happy with it, because leaving an 86-year-old laying on the floor, and no-one allowed to touch her, at the top it's a six-minute drive to the hospital to where she lived.

"To take nearly six hours - that was disgusting."
