    Police say they are growing concerned for a missing 21-year-old woman from Crawley.

    Keileigh Miller was reported missing by her family on Thursday after she didn't turn up to her mother's house in Horley as expected.

    She was last seen by her family on Wednesday in Horley at about 19:30 BST.

    PC Mark Green said: "Her family are growing worried. Anyone who has seen her or knows where she is should contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 653 of 01/09."

    Southern, external rail says it plans to run 60% of its normal timetable during strike action by the RMT, external union on Wednesday and Thursday.

    The company says it will use 'contingency conductors' and that there will be extra staff at stations to help passengers.

    This was the sight which met Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn when he came to the South East on Saturday.

    He said the South East would get a £30bn investment package if Labour wins power.

  7. Investigation launched after woman raped in Worthingpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Police are investigating after a woman was raped on the beach at Goring Gap in Worthing.

    The 29-year-old woman was attacked at about 8.30pm on Wednesday 24 August.

    A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He has been released on bail until 18 November while enquiries continue. Anyone with information should call Sussex Police, external on 101.

    The restoration of Halnaker Windmill near Chichester is expected to start early next year following planning approval.

    The Grade II listed building, which dates from the 18th century, will undergo refurbishment work which is expected to last 14 weeks.

  10. Gatwick update: 'Small indentation' on runwaypublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Gatwick Airport says a "small indentation" was the reason its main runway was closed for several hours last night. 

    Eight aircraft were diverted after it was forced to open its alternative runway at around 19.40 BST.

  11. Computer equipment stolen from schoolpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Police are appealing for witnesses after about £11,000 of computer equipment was stolen from a school in Heathfield.

    The items stolen from Heathfield Community College on 20 August include 85 iPads, 10 MacBooks, five Mac minis, four laptops and two tablet computers.

    Anyone with information is asked to email @sussex.pnn.police.uk, external or call 101, quoting serial 181 of 22/08.

    The boss of East Sussex Wildlife Rescue, external has been telling BBC Sussex about a rather unusual discovery washed up in St Leonards yesterday.

    It's a red-footed booby, normally found in the Caribbean.

  20. Unusual discovery for animal rescuerspublished at 08:26 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Here are some more pictures of the unusual discovery for staff from East Sussex Wildlife Rescue in St Leonards yesterday - a red-footed booby.

    Rescuers Andrew Loftus and Charlotte Humphreys managed to catch the bird on the beach after being called by Gail Cohen and took it to their casualty centre for initial care.
