A woman from Torquay has spoken for the first time about her secret World War Two role as a "twiddler", intercepting German signals.
Pam Harding, who served in the Women's Royal Naval Service, worked at Abbot's Cliff on the south coast, near Folkestone, one of several Y stations - used to intercept intelligence on radio sets.
The "rather rude" nickname was taken from "twiddling" the dials on the radio sets to find the strongest radio signal.
"We were special duties linguists and our job was to intercept mainly German naval traffic," she said.
Pam's story will be on Inside Out tonight at 19:30 on BBC One.
It is 50 years since the plane made its debut to the world in 1968.

Repairs to the Leas Lift in Folkestone will cost an estimated £500,000, the owners have said.
The Grade II* listed Leas Lift is one of the few remaining water balanced lifts in the country.
It was closed in 2017 after the Health and Safety Executive said that a secondary braking system needed to be installed to comply with safety legislation.
Chairman of the Folkestone Leas Lift Company, Peter Cheney, said: "The scale of the work and the fundraising needed is quite considerable and will take some time to complete.
"Although there will be disappointment that the lift will not be in operation during the coming season, safety is paramount, and we must comply rigidly with all relevant legislation."

An elderly couple have been tied up by burglars who forced them to hand over their bank cards and PINs.
Two men, with their faces covered, forced their way into the couple's home in Wodeland Avenue in Guildford at about 19:15 GMT on Friday, Surrey Police said.
They also took cash and some jewellery and tore a page out of the couple's address book telling them they would contact a neighbour to release them after they had left.
The couple were not injured, but were left extremely shaken, a police spokesman said.
One of the men is described as white, about 6ft tall, of a stocky build and in his 30s. He was wearing a dark woollen hat and a dark scarf pulled over his face, a dark padded coat, gloves and faded jeans which were turned up. The only description of the second man is that he was slimmer than the first man.
The two men are thought to have left along Farnham Road, across the bridge and towards Woodbridge Road where they parked their vehicle and walked to the forecourt of the Nisa BP garage to use the ATM, police said.
