    A mum and dad from Barnsley have decided to change their lives to help their son change his.

    James and Emma Swallow-Gaunt have had difficulty getting support for their son Liam who has ADHD and autism.

    He's now 21 and their other son Ethan, who's 10, is struggling with similar issues.

    Several people who were in Weston Park in Sheffield on Monday night at about the time of a serious sexual assault on a 21-year-old woman have been spoken to by police, but detectives say there are others they'd still like to hear from.

    Detectives are analysing CCTV footage and want to speak to anyone else, external who was in the park between 22:35 and 23:00.

    The overuse of antibiotics was to blame for a serious stomach bug which spread through UK hospitals in the last decade, a Leeds-based scientist claims.

    Severe cases of diarrhoea, caused by the Clostridium difficile bug, first hit the headlines in 2006.  

    A year later, a deep-cleaning programme was introduced in hospitals to try to bring the outbreak under control. 

    Professor Mark Wilcox, from the University of Leeds, says he believes it wasn't the cleaning which helped stop it, but limiting the use of antibiotics.

    Locke Park in Barnsley today becomes the town's first with a smoke-free child's play area.

    Signs designed by a local schoolgirl have gone up asking people in the park to keep their cigarettes unlit.  

    The aim is that eventually 24 play areas across the borough will be smoke-free. 

    If you ignore the signs, however, there's no fine as the scheme is purely voluntary.

    The National Farmers' Union is calling for clarity on what will happen to free-range labelling if restrictions owing to avian flu in North Yorkshire and three other parts of the country continue.

    A government order means poultry must be kept indoors until the end of February or kept away from wild birds.

    The H5N8 bird flu strain has been found in poultry in North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Lincolnshire and Carmarthenshire.

    Under current EU rules, products from poultry housed for less than 12 weeks can be still marketed as free-range.

    This 12-week allowance for birds housed owing to avian flu will come to an end on 28 February.

    See that cracked windscreen? That's the result of someone's head hitting it after having a crash without being buckled-up.  

    The picture was posted by West Yorkshire Police, external and it happened in Emley near Huddersfield. 

    According to officers, a man who was a passenger in the car walked away with just a headache.

    Yesterday we reported that HSBC was closing a number of branches across Yorkshire and, of course, last week Yorkshire Bank announced closures.

    The move leaves Wath upon Dearne without a bank.

    John Healey, the MP for Wentworth and Dearne, says he has contacted the chief executives of both banks to say he is concerned about their decision and is doing everything he can to get them to change their minds.

    Detectives in Sheffield investigating a serious sexual assault on a 21-year-old woman in Weston Park on Monday night say the victim is still too traumatised to give them a full account of events.

    Today, as they try to use CCTV footage from the surrounding area, police are asking anyone who was in or around the park on the evening of Monday 23 January to contact them, external

    The incident is believed to have happened sometime between 22:35 and 23:00 as the woman walked through the park.  

    The park remains cordoned off today.

    There are many images of the good and the great of York in the city's galleries and museums as well as various statues but one local artist wants to commemorate some current heroes.

    Artist Sue Clayton wants to paint six portraits featuring some of the special people who live in the city, external for an exhibition next year. 

    But Sue needs the help of York's citizens - she wants people to nominate a local hero or heroine for her to paint:

    Increasingly these days people are moving from job to job as the labour market changes. 

    That's an idea I imagine Max Mills from Knaresborough would struggle with as he stayed in the same job for 51 years.

    Max was a teacher at St. John Fisher School in Harrogate before retiring in 2015 - although he still coaches table tennis at the school.

    His dedication to the world of education was rewarded recently with an MBE and earlier today on the BBC Radio York Mid Morning Show he told me what kept him teaching through the years:

    It's been part of the street furniture of Leeds since the late 1800s, but the future of the Cardigan Arms on Kirkstall Road in Leeds is now in doubt after its owners put it up for sale.

    But it appears all is not lost...  

    A community group has formed, external over the past few weeks and is now working towards buying the "Cardy Arms" and keeping it in the ownership of local residents.

    The group says it's trying to raise £350,000 to make it happen, with at least £100,000 coming from the Plunkett Foundation, which supports co-operatives and social enterprises.

    Members have until June this year to raise the money to buy the Grade II-listed building, which was also one of Camra's top 200 heritage pubs.

    Police are investigating after three cars were set alight, external in the Lundwood area of Barnsley earlier this week.

    Emergency services were called to a house in Lang Avenue at about 22:20 on Monday night after a caller said three cars on the driveway were on fire.  

    The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and police would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at about that time.

    There's good and bad news for our coastal resorts today.

    Scarborough and Whitby have missed out on a place in the Rough Guide's list of Britain's top 30 best seaside towns, external.  

    However it's good news for Filey - which is at number 19 - and even better news for Robin Hood's Bay (pictured) which is in ninth place.

    The latter gained a reputation in the 18th century as Yorkshire's busiest smuggling community and, despite the name, has no known connections to the famous outlaw.
