    West Yorkshire - Eastgate in Leeds blocked and slow traffic westbound between the A61 Eastgate junction and the Vicar Lane junction, because of an accident.

    A donkey sanctuary in West Yorkshire has been letting its first ever donkey born in captivity have a bit of a run about, and it's adorable!

    Rosie is only two-weeks-old and is the first to be born at the Wonkey Donkey sanctuary in Knottingley. Enjoy!

  5. Harrogate council tax bills to risepublished at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Harrogate Borough Council is putting up its share of council tax for the first time in six years - by 2.23%.

    This is on top of proposed rises in the share of council tax taken by the Police and Fire Authorities and North Yorkshire County Council. 

    Last night, Harrogate borough councillors unanimouslyapproved the budget plans which include the increase.

    It'll mean an annual increase of £5 - which is less than 10p a week - for a Band D household. 

    A spokesman for the council says they've put together a balanced budget without having to make any cuts in front line services.   

  6. Bradford to host first 'National Conversation' on immigrationpublished at 11:52 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    A new "National Conversation" on immigration, which aims to hear the views of people all over Britain, comes to Bradford today.

    It's the first of 60 "citizens panels" to be conducted across the UK - made possible by funds raised in memory of West Yorkshire MP Jo Cox after her murder last year. 

    The National Conversation will feed into a new Immigration Inquiry, run by the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee. 

    It'll provide an opportunity for members of the public to have their say on immigration policy after Brexit.

    It's happy 105th birthday to the poet from Harrogate who wrote the words for the BBC's Symphony for Yorkshire.

    Doreen Brigham won a competition in 2010, and her lyrics were used in the BBC project, which saw more than 200 musicians come together, external to celebrate Yorkshire Day. 

    Here's the first verse of the poem upon which the symphony was based:

    Sing a song of Yorkshire, from the Humber to the Tees. Of horses, wool and terriers, of pudding and of cheese.I know no other county where the land is quite so fine.England's lovely county. And I'm proud to call it mine.

    Lord Paul Scriven has just told me the emotional story of how, at the age of 15, he felt his life wasn't worth living any more. 

    The Liberal Democrat politician and former leader of Sheffield City Council grew up in Huddersfield and was bullied for being gay.

    Tropical World in Leeds is officially opening its revamped Creature Corner and Waterfall Area this lunchtime.

    A number of new species have been added to the Roundhay-based attraction, including giant geckos, vampire crabs, leaf-cutter ants and tomato frogs. 

    Staff say they'll also be introducing visitors to their new South American river monsters - namely a red tail catfish and a dwarf crocodile. 

  10. Bridlington elderly 'struggling to get to Scarborough Hospital'published at 11:08 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Some elderly people in Bridlington are cancelling hospital appointments because it's too hard for them to get to Scarborough Hospital. 

    That's the claim being made by Jean Wormwell, who chairs the Bridlington Health Forum. 

    The shuttle bus which connected Bridlington with Scarborough Hospital stopped running last month. 

    All attempts to get a replacement bus service have failed.

    Last month over 80 recommendations came out of an independent inquiry into the Boxing Day 2015 floods in York

    Parts of the city which had never flooded before were hit and nearly 600 properties were affected in all.

    This afternoon officials are due to discuss the report's recommendations.   

    City of York Council says it's already working through an action plan following the events of December 2015.

    Astonishing footage has emerged from North Yorkshire Police's Road Crime Team.

    Officers from the team spotted a 4x4 vehicle with false plates towing a generator using flimsy straps along the A19.

    As you can see from the film, it was quite spectacular, but also somewhat dangerous - not only for those involved but also for other road users.

    Police pursued the car along the North and South Yorkshire border until the generator finally slipped its moorings when the vehicle went off-road:

    They take seriously ill children on the holiday of a lifetime to Florida, without their parents.

    Jacob Isherwood from Wombwell, Barnsley, has kidney disease, and went to Orlando with them last year.

    Now, the youngster wants to raise the money, external to send another child away.

    Shadow Health Secretary Jonathan Ashworth is in West Yorkshire today to talk about the planned downgrading of Dewsbury Hospital's A&E department. 

    He's meeting bosses from Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust - along with the town's MP Paula Sherriff and Batley and Spen MP Tracy Brabin. 

    If plans go ahead, Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield will become the district's main emergency department. 

    Paula Sherriff says she has "grave concerns" about that happening:

    The family of 16-year-old Leonne Weeks have issued a statement on the loss of their "beautiful daughter".

    Leonne’s funeral is due to take place later in Dinnington. 

    The teenager was found stabbed to death last month.

    South Yorkshire Police have responded to criticism claiming a lack of action over dangerous driving outside a Sheffield school. 

    Parents at Carfield Primary in Meersbrook have been blockading roads in protest since Monday. 

    They say they're sick of what they describe as irresponsible parking and the danger it's creating.
