An uninsured driver whose vehicle hit an Audi killing a 33-year-old man has been jailed for six years and disqualified from driving for 12 years.
Darren Tinkler, 38, of HMP Doncaster, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and driving without insurance or a licence.
The court heard how - at around 06:00 on Thursday 2 March - Tinkler was driving a black Ford Mondeo that crashed into a white Audi RS4 on York Road at St Mary’s roundabout.
A chef in Sheffield has been voted the best chef at the annual Curry Life Awards.
Mukter Ali, from the Vine Indian Cuisine in Mosborough, Sheffield, collected his award at a Gala Dinner and awards ceremony in London.
The Curry Life Awards celebrate the cuisine of Indian food in the UK and is part of a wider organisation that organises the British Curry Festival around the world.
Police have released the name of a teenager who died in a car crash in North Yorkshire on Wednesday.
Jordan Bowes, aged 19, from Great Broughton, died after the crash on the B1257 near Stokesley.
He was driving a blue Audi Quattro when there was a collision with a white Mercedes box van at 10:20.
Police say they are looking for dashcam footage of the crash or for any witnesses to come forward.
A campaigner who incited people over social media to break an injunction forbidding taking action over tree felling has been found to be in contempt of court.
A judge said there was "no doubt" a message posted by Calvin Payne, 44, breached the order.
The injunction was obtained by Sheffield City Council to stop long-running protests against a tree felling programme.
Payne will be sentenced on 3 November.
A charge against Green councillor Alison Teal was dismissed.
The campaigner posted messages on social media encouraging people to break the tree injunction.

Leeds City Council says the idea was to get people who visit the city centre during the evening interested in the market, and that so far they have another three events planned.
The leader of Leeds City Council, Judith Blake, said: "Last night’s night market had a vibrant and friendly atmosphere, with customers enjoying a wide range of food, drink, shopping and entertainment."

A pensioner's ashes will be scattered in the sky amid exploding stars tomorrow night as part of a celebration of her life.
The ashes will be blown into the night air by fireworks in the garden of the woman’s home in The Groves area of York, during a party held by her family.

It was found in Salford, but went missing from Doncaster five years ago!
The discovery of "F66796" (that's its rather un-cute name that's been given to it by Salford City Council's dog control officers) has been posted on the Dogs in Salford Facebook page., external
No one knows how the dog has managed to get from Doncaster to Salford, but officers at the council say that the dog has been chipped.
They say that the dog was reported missing from the Doncaster area five years ago but unfortunately the telephone number listed with the chip no longer works.

A 12-mile section of the A57 Snake Pass which was closed on Monday for resurfacing is now reopen.
The major route was shut from the junction of Hurst Road and the A57 Sheffield Road to the junction of the A6013 with the A57 at Bamford.

Just a gentle reminder that both Huddersfield and and Dewsbury train stations will be closed this weekend, external.
Network Rail will be changing over the old signalling systems to new ones controlled from the "state-of-the-art" Rail Operating Centre in York.
There'll be no trains this weekend, but they will be operating up to 25 buses an hour to keep people on the move.
The company say that the change-over will result in a "more reliable, modern and cost-effective railway".

A university's decision to expel a student for posting a comment online saying homosexuality was a sin was lawful, a court has ruled.
Devout Christian Felix Ngole, 39, from Barnsley, was removed from a post-graduate social work course at the University of Sheffield.
He argued that throwing him out breached his human rights.
But Deputy High Court judge Rowena Collins Rice ruled that university bosses acted within the law.
After the hearing Mr Ngole said he intended to appeal against the judge's decision.
All lanes have reopened following a collision on the A1M Northbound between J38 and J39.
But there are "severe delays" of up to 90 minutes from J34 as traffic starts to move again:
