    This queue had formed out side Luv Ya Babes fancy dress shop on Albion Street in the city.

    The company had to employ a bouncer to make sure everyone could get in and out safely.

    It was part of a night time operation after complaints about nuisance in and around Conisborough.

    Scientists in Leeds say that robots could repair things like potholes before they even appear under a research programme.

    Engineers at the University of Leeds say they are developing technology to create fleets of robots which could detect and repair cracks in roads and fix pipes before they burst and maintain street lights.

    Professor Rob Richardson, director of the National Facility for Innovative Robotic Systems at the university, said "Detecting faults and weaknesses early and then quickly performing smart repairs is the key."

    He added " Workers currently carrying out repetitive and sometimes risky jobs on busy highways could be trained and supported into new roles managing or arranging robots' work functions."

    The friends and family of a missing man from Doncaster say they're increasingly concerned for his welfare.

    John Parker was last seen at 23:00 on Saturday at the door of his home on Warmsworth Road, Balby and police say he could have been leaving at that point.

    He has long grey hair at the sides, an unkempt grey beard and no front teeth.

    Officers say they haven't had any confirmed sightings of him since and are very worried for his welfare with the cold weather and darker nights.

    A man who was arrested earlier today by armed police in the centre of Leeds was just one of six arrests over the attempted murder of a man at the weekend.

    Detectives are appealing for information about an incident in which a shotgun was fired but no-one was injured at 14:00 on Saturday on Back Maud Avenue in Beeston .

    As well as the arrest in Leeds at lunchtime, armed officers arrested another man at an house in Whinmoor in the early hours of this morning and four further men were arrested this afternoon when they were pulled over in a car in Bradford.

    Police are looking into whether this shooting could be linked to another one in the same area on 11 October.

  15. Listen: 'Gambling nearly lost us our house' - Proposal to lower fixed-odds maximum betpublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017

    The government's proposing the maximum bet allowed on fixed odds gambling machines is at least halved.

    Currently users can lose £100 in just 20 seconds.

    A review recommends the limit is lowered to somewhere between £50 and £2.

    This caller to BBC Radio York didn't want to be named.

    He said his partner had a gambling addiction which nearly led to them losing their house on three occasions and thinks addiction to gambling is a mental illness:

  16. Court of appeal will reveal Ann Maguire inquest decision 'at later date'published at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017

    The reasons behind the decision not to allow pupils to give evidence at the inquest into the murder of Ann Maguire will be "given at a later date".

    Don Maguire and his daughter Kerry (pictured) were at the Royal Courts of Justice today and were challenging the coroner's decision not to call evidence from pupils who had contact with Ann Maguire's killer immediately before the attack.

    Her family's call for a judicial review into the decision by West Yorkshire coroner Kevin McLoughlin was rejected by a High Court judge in August.

    Lord Chief Justice Lord Burnett, Lord Justice Treacy and Lord Justice Hickinbottom said they would give their reasons for their decision at a later date.

    Someone's just spent their Christmas bonus on a new front end for a van:

    The van appears to have rolled down the steps at Leeds Town Hall and hit a lamppost after the handbrake wasn't applied.

    Leeds City Council say that the van belonged to an external contractor working on getting Leeds Film Festival ready.

    There were no injuries and no one was in the van at the time.

    Ground breaking fertility treatment involving the genetic testing of embryos is heading to South Yorkshire.

    Jessop Fertility in Sheffield is bringing a special laser to their labs, which will enable them to test IVF embryos, to find out if babies are at risk of being born with genetic problems.

    Up until now patients have had to go to London for this kind of procedure.

    Fire crews are now damping down after a fire in a static caravan in Flixton, near Scarborough.

    Crews from Scarborough, Sherburn and Filey were called to deal with the blaze.
