Ann Maguire's family loses challenge over coroner's decisionpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2017
More on the news that the family of murdered Leeds teacher Ann Maguire have lost their Court of Appeal challenge against a coroner's decision not to call evidence from pupils who'd had contact with her killer immediately before she was killed.
The 61-year-old was stabbed to death by Will Cornick at Corpus Christi Catholic College in April 2014.
Cornick, who was 15 at the time of the killing, admitted murdering Mrs Maguire and was later sentenced to life with a minimum term of 20 years.
Her family's call for a judicial review into the decision by West Yorkshire coroner Kevin McLoughlin not to allow evidence from pupils at the inquest into her death was rejected by a High Court judge in August.
Earlier, Irwin Mitchell partner, Yogi Amin, who represents Mrs Maguire's family, said today's appeal represented "the next step in the family's long-running battle to attain a full and fair inquest into the murder of Ann".
