  1. Four men admit role in kidnap of cattle dealer near Omaghpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    Four County Tyrone men have admitted involvement in the kidnapping of a cattle dealer who was held captive for five days as part of an extortion plot.

    He was tied up, hooded and bundled into a van by an armed gang near Omagh. A ransom of 400,000 euros was then demanded from the man's father.

    He was released across the border after 100,000 euros was paid.

  2. Craigavon Hospital cancels ALL inpatient surgerypublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    A Trust spokesperson said "Norovirus in the community is now seriously impacting on our hospitals. We have cancelled all inpatient surgery (all day cases will continue as planned) today to ensure the safety of patients.

    We are working hard to arrange new dates as quickly as possible for any of the patients affected. The situation will continue to be reviewed to assess if more cancellations are required in the days ahead."

    Big news for Irish rugby fans - next year's Six Nations tournament will feature a bonus-point system for the first time.

    Traditionally, the tournament has awarded two points for a win but from 2017 teams will get four points and a bonus point for scoring four tries or more. A losing team will also get a bonus point if they lose by less than seven points.  

  4. Claw hammer murder: Louis Maguire jailed for killing Eamonn Fergusonpublished at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    A man has been sent to jail for 17 years for the murder of Eamonn Ferguson, 35, who was found dead in a flat at Ardoyne Place in March 2014.

    Louis Maguire, 28, formerly of Ardoyne Place, was given a minimum term of 17 years for the "unprovoked" attack.

    A second man, Christopher Power of no fixed address, had been convicted of assisting an offender. He was released due to time already served in prison.

    The tragic tale of an ocean liner sunk during World War One is to be told in a new exhibition in Londonderry.

    The SS Laurentic struck a German mine at the mouth of Lough Swilly in 1917. More than 350 men lost their lives. The Tower Museum will host the exhibition from next year and is asking to borrow any items salvaged from the luxury liner.

    The East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson has said there are areas of medicine and diseases which "have not received the same attention as AIDS and which affect far more people".

    Bertie Ahern, the former taoiseach, has been invited to rejoin Fianna Fáil - a party he resigned from in 2012 after a report into alleged planning corruption.
