There was widespread confusion when the Education Authority announced late last night all Northern Ireland schools should close - and that confusion was even felt by headteachers.

"We found out via a tweet and it was very confusing," says Maria Lindsay, principal of St Mary's College in Londonderry. "It was a long night waiting for clarification. Thankfully it did come.
"I do think in that case there should have been an email sent to all principals. The decision could have been made an hour earlier as well."
