BBC deputy political editor James Landale, who's at the Labour conference in Brighton, says there's a sense of excitement and anticipation there.  People are intrigued by what Jeremy Corbyn is going to say, as "he's an enigma", he says. There'll be some mentions of policy to highlight the specific areas he's interested in, such as housing and more support for the self-employed. But a surprise new policy announcement isn't expected, he adds.

Labour is "heading off into the hills" under Jeremy Corbyn's leadership, David Cameron has said. The PM, who is currently in New York attending talks at the United Nations, made the comments during an interview with CBS.

    Quote Message

We have an opportunity in my party, having just won an election and having won a mandate and with the other party heading off into the hills a bit, I think we have an opportunity to say 'whatever your politics in the past, if you want strong health and a strong economy, if you want strong defence and to look after the poorest in the world, we are the team for you'."

    The World at One
    BBC Radio 4

James Forsyth, political editor of The Spectator, doubts that Jeremy Corbyn can get by on social media alone. He says the SNP have one of the most sophisticated social media operations but they were "very keen to get the support of a newspaper" with pro-independence Scottish paper the National.

    The World at One
    BBC Radio 4

With much of the press opposed to Jeremy Corbyn's policies, it is likely his speech won't get a good reception in many newspapers, regardless of its reception in the hall. Will social media enable him to survive without the backing of the mainstream press?

Ben Sellers, who was social media co-ordinator for Jeremy Corbyn's campaign, says social media helped him reach party activists and people who had never voted before. He says the social media campaign will use memes and "shareable graphics that distill some of the positive things Jeremy is saying" following the speech.
