  8. 'A modern Left'published at 14:58

Reflecting on the Labour leadership election Jeremy Corbyn says the outcome was something of a "political earthquake".

"Our common project must be to embrace an emergence of a modern Left," he tells party members and activists, adding: "We need to change in response to this movement."

He says new members are "fizzing" with ideas and excitement and should be given the space to become involved in the "new politics".

Mr Corbyn says the new deputy leader, Tom Watson, is "well up for the challenge" in changing the way Labour does its business and using social media.

  12. Corbyn: Bombs aren't the answer in Syriapublished at 14:53

Real leadership can resolve conflicts and prevent war, says Jeremy Corbyn, arguing that this has been proved by the US "historic deal" with Iran.

Addressing the Syria crisis, the Labour leader condemns the crimes committed by Islamic State fighters. "But the answer can't simply be found in a few more bombs," he says. He says a political solution is needed to the crisis.

Does that mean he'll oppose any attempt by the government to authorise UK air strikes against IS targets in Syria?

  14. Corbyn: Trident renewal not the right way forwardpublished at 14:52

Turning to national security, Jeremy Corbyn says a strong military is needed to keep the UK safe and to take a lead in humanitarian and peace

He says there's no contradiction between working for peace across the world and doing what is necessary to keep us safe.

Today's threats are different from those in the Cold War era, he says, explaining that this is why he's ordered a review of Britain's nuclear weapons system. He doesn't believe its renewal is the right way forward and that the UK should take a lead in pursuing international nuclear disarmament.

But, Mr Corbyn adds, Labour must ensure that all the jobs tied up in Britain's nuclear weapons industry are "protected and utilised".

  16. Corbyn on refugee crisispublished at 14:51

Jeremy Corbyn says the refugees fleeing to Europe are "victims of war". It's the worst humanitarian crisis since the Second World War, he says, but laments the response by the UK government, Europe and wider world. While he welcomes UK aid spending, he says more needs to be done. "Let's reach out the hand of humanity and friendship to them," he adds.

Jeremy Corbyn says the UK economy is "unbalanced, unsustainable and frankly dangerous". He says austerity is the "outdated and utterly failed approach of the past".

It is for Labour, he argues, to develop a forward-looking alternative, praising his shadow chancellor's speech yesterday. At the heart of their economic strategy is investment, Mr Corbyn explains, in infrastructure, skills and schools. He highlights plans to boost house building to tackle the "crisis" and lower the benefits bill, among his aims.
