Zac Goldsmith, the Conservatives' candidate for next year's London mayoral elections, has told BBC Radio London Theresa May's speech to the Conservative Party conference yesterday "could have put more emphasis on the upside of immigration".
Mrs May said high migration made a "cohesive society" impossible - a message that was criticised by business leaders.

Ahead of David Cameron's speech, which will include a pledge to create 200,000 "starter homes", Labour has criticised the Conservatives' record on house building. John Healey, shadow housing and planning minister, said home ownership "is now at its lowest level for a generation - for those under 35, it’s down by over a fifth", and added:
