    He dismisses the suggestion that Jeremy Corbyn won with the support of "Johnny come latelys", arguing that many registered supporters who paid £25 to take part in the contest were members who had been denied a vote otherwise.

    "The leadership issue is settled now and we've got to move forward," says Labour MP Chuka Umunna.

    But he says he is "flabbergasted" that immigration did not figure more in the leadership debate, as around a third of Labour supporters have a different view to the party.

    He indicates he will not join Mr Corbyn's frontbench team.

    "Being on the frontbench is not the only way of serving," says Mr Umunna, who is running for chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee.

    Jeremy Corbyn has won the Labour leadership contest with 313,309 votes. Challenger Owen Smith got 193,229.

    A total of 506,438 cast their votes, higher than earlier estimates.

    Mr Corbyn got 61.8% of votes cast - an increase on his winning margin last year.
