  3. 'Twin threats' to democracypublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

Jeremy Corbyn says democracy faces "twin threats" - from "authoritarian nationalism" and from the idea "that political choices can only be marginal and that people are consumers first, and only citizens a distant second".

He says: "Labour is fighting for a society not only where rewards are more fairly spread, but where people are listened to more as well by government, their local council, their employer.

"Some of the most shocking cases of people not being listened to must surely be the recent revelations of widespread child sex abuse."

People need to be heard whatever their background, he says.

  6. Corbyn promises action on robots taking jobspublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

Mr Corbyn promises to address the challenge of Artificial Intelligence, which some economists fear could cause mass unemployment.

He says automation is "a threat in the hands of the greedy, but it's a huge opportunity if it's managed in the interests of society as a whole.

"We won't reap the full rewards of these great technological advances if they're monopolised to pile up profits for a few.

"But if they're publicly managed - to share the benefits - they can be the gateway for a new settlement between work and leisure. A springboard for expanded creativity and culture.

"The tide of automation and technological change means re-training and management of the workforce must be centre-stage in the coming years."

  7. Organ donation pledgepublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

Mr Corbyn vows to change the law on organ donations if it wins the next election, to reduce waiting lists - the change will mean people have to opt-out of being an organ donor, rather than having to opt-in, as at present.

  8. Corbyn repeats police numbers pledgepublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

The Labour leader repeats a pledge from the general election, telling delegates: "The police and security services must get the resources they need, not 20,000 police cuts.

"Scrapping the public sector pay squeeze isn't an act of charity - it is a necessity to keep our public services fully staffed and strong. That is the Labour commitment."

  9. Labour 'values' public servantspublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

Jeremy Corbyn praises the emergency services but adds: "Everyone praises them. It's Labour that values them."

"You can't protect the public on the cheap," he says, arguing that scrapping the public sector pay freeze is essential.

  11. 'Compulsory purchase' for undeveloped landpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

"We also need to tax undeveloped land held by developers and have the power to compulsorily purchase," Jeremy Corbyn says.

"As Ed Miliband said: 'Use it or lose it'."

That policy and mention of the last leader prompts a long burst of applause.

The Labour leader adds: "Regeneration under a Labour government will be for the benefit of the local people, not private developers.

"First, people who live on an estate that's redeveloped must get a home on the same site and the same terms as before.

"No social cleansing, no jacking up rents, no exorbitant ground rents.

"And second, councils will have to win a ballot of existing tenants and leaseholders before any redevelopment scheme can take place."

  14. Labour 'to bring in rent controls'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

Homes should be for the many, "not speculative investments for a few", Mr Corbyn says.

Homelessness has doubled since 2010 and home ownership has fallen, he tells delegates.

Labour will hold a review of social housing policy, to report at next year's conference.

"And we will control rents, when the young generation's housing costs are three times more than that of their grandparents. That is unsustainable."

  15. Ben Okri's Grenfell tower poempublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

A poem dedicated to the victims of the Grenfell fire - just quoted by Jeremy Corbyn - has inspired a street mural in Hackney written by graffiti artist Ben Eine.

"Grenfell Tower, June 2017" was written by Booker Prize winning author Ben Okri in the days after the tragedy. Watch a film on the mural here.

  17. Grenfell an 'avoidable human disaster'published at 13:10 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

Jeremy Corbyn says the Grenfell Tower fire was "an entirely avoidable human disaster".

The ruined tower is a "chilling" monument to privatisation and "yawning inequality", the Labour leader argues.

Residents had warned that "only a catastrophic event will expose the... incompetence of our landlord" - words which should haunt all politicians, Mr Corbyn adds.

  19. 'Stuck in a political and economic timewarp'published at 13:06 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

Mr Corbyn says "the capitalist system still faces a crisis of legitimacy" following the economic crash, and the country is "stuck in a political and economic timewarp".

Now is the time to build a new economic model to replace the "failed dogmas of neo-liberalism", he tells delegates.

This means a bigger role for the public sector and greater accountability for big business, renationalising utilities and investing in better infrastructure and skills.

  20. Brexit team gets an ovationpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    Labour's Brexit team

Time for Sir Keir Starmer and shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry - and the wider shadow Brexit team - to take a bow.
