    Mr Corbyn backs Theresa May's two-year Brexit transition period but claims Labour is the only party that can "unite everyone in our country around a progressive vision of what our country could be" after Brexit.

    He adds: "Labour is the only party that can bring together those who voted and Leave and those who voted Remain."

    He says Labour would push for "unimpeded access to the single market" and fight to protect jobs and wages, while rejecting immigration targets.

    He says ministers are involved in "bungling" over Brexit.

    Jeremy Corbyn says the Daily Mail devoted 14 pages to attacking Labour ahead of the election, and yet the party's vote share went up by 10%.

    "Never have so many trees died in vain," he jokes.

    His message for the Daily Mail's editor is: "Next time, please make it 28 pages."

    He says the Tory-supporting media ran a "nasty" campaign which "fueled abuse online".

    He says shadow home secretary Diane Abbott was the biggest target of that abuse. Mr Corbyn tells conference there is "never any excuse for abuse of anybody, by anybody".

    The manifesto was one of the stars of the election campaign - and it was costed, says Mr Corbyn. Labour wanted the richest to "pay their fair share".

    "Our manifesto is the programme of a modern socialist party," he adds.

    "The other star of the campaign was you," he says, members, supporters and the trade unionists (no mention of the MPs!) to "outplay the Tories big money machine" on the ground.
