  2. 'No arm-bending' in fight for votespublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Steve Brine, one of the MPs backing Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt's leadership bid, says it's important the next PM is "match-fit" to step into No 10, and his man is "already a respected figure on the world stage".

He will give Boris Johnson the "fight of his life" if he makes it into the final two, he adds.

Mr Brine says MPs have been well behaved in the contest for votes so far, adding there's been “no arm-bending, nothing threatened, nothing promised”.

  3. Fight for second place 'extremely tight'published at 17:23 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

    BBC Radio 5 Live

MP Tom Tugendhat, who is backing Michael Gove, says the race for second place between his man and Jeremy Hunt is "extremely tight".

He reveals he tried to court a former Sajid Javid backer "within seconds" of the home secretary getting knocked out in the ballot earlier today.

On why he is backing Mr Gove, he says he offers a "proven ability to deliver in every office he's ever held".

  7. How do Tory MPs vote in leadership contest?published at 17:01 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

The actual process for allowing MPs to vote in the leadership election is a fairly traditional affair.

There's no electronic voting, with parliamentarians having to walk into Committee Room 14 in the House of Commons to pop their voting slip into a black metal box.

When they show up to vote, MPs have to show their parliamentary pass to prove who they are.

The ballot papers bear the stamp of the backbench 1922 Committee - which is responsible for holding the contest - and change colour for each round.
