  1. A busy corridor of Tory MPs wait to votepublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

A queue of about 20 Tory MPs were waiting at the door at the start of the fifth round of voting.

ERG chairman Jacob Rees Mogg says he had given his proxy vote to colleague Anne-Marie Trevelyan and "short of giving it to Boris myself", says he couldn't trust anyone else more to vote "the right way".

Former candidate Dominic Raab left the room after voting without speaking to journalists.

  2. Voting queue 'is longest so far'published at 15:47 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

The BBC's chief political correspondent Vicki Young reports that this round's ballot papers are pink.

It's also the longest queue to vote seen so far, she says.

And when it comes to the two spoilt ballot papers from the previous round, most people think it wasn't the prime minister, our correspondent adds.

  4. Voting begins in fifth ballotpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

Conservative MPs have begun voting in the fifth round of the Tory leadership contest.

Once again, the candidate with the fewest number of votes is eliminated from the contest.

This time, all eyes are on who will come second to Boris Johnson - who has come out top in all the polls so far.

Just two votes separated Michael Gove and Jeremy Hunt in the fourth ballot.

There are 34 Sajid Javid votes up for grabs. This is going to be tight.

The ballot closes at 17:30 BST and we'll have the results here just after 18:00.

  6. Teams Gove and Hunt seek backing from Javid supporterspublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

One MP who supported Sajid Javid in the previous ballots has told BBC chief political correspondent Vicki Young that people are literally jumping out from behind pillars in Parliament to try and get his support.

The support of the 34 MPs who voted for Mr Javid is now up for grabs for the remaining three leadership candidates.

The MP tells our correspondent that his phone has not stopped ringing since the results were announced, as Michael Gove and Jeremy Hunt vie for second place.

Team Hunt is telling the MP that a Gove-Johnson run-off is too divisive for the party because they've fallen out in the past.

And team Gove is telling him that a "proper Brexiteer" is needed in case the Johnson campaign implodes.

  9. Gove 'well placed to challenge Johnson'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

    BBC News Channel

    Anne Milton

MP Anne Milton, who is part of the team supporting Michael Gove, says her man is "really well placed" to challenge the leadership frontrunner in the final round.

"I do not think this is going to be a coronation for Boris Johnson," she says.

Asked whether she is worried that there may be tactical voting to make sure Mr Gove does not go through to the final two, she says: "Anyone who votes tactically would be making a huge mistake."

She adds that it will be important to make sure the next PM supported the Leave campaign in 2016 (Jeremy Hunt advocated Remain).

  12. What do Tory grassroots members want?published at 14:19 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

Once MPs have whittled the leadership candidates down to two, it will be up to Conservative Party members across the UK to decide the winner. What will they be looking for?

Greig Baker, chairman of the Canterbury Conservative Association, says his members really want to see Brexit happen by 31 October - and they will be looking to see who has the best plan to make that happen.

Denise le Gal, chairwoman of the SW Surrey Conservative Association - whose local MP is Jeremy Hunt - agrees the contest is "about Brexit" and who is "best poised" to deliver it.

Should the winner be a journalist or a businessman? If it goes down to Johnson v Gove, it will be a contest between two journalists, she says.

Sajid Javid backer Chris Philp tells the BBC he has "some thinking to do" about whom he is going to support next.

Boris Johnson backer Lucy Frazer says even though her candiate is well out in front, every vote matters in the final ballot of MPs.

The final two contenders will be revealed after the votes in the final ballot have been counted - expected at around 18:00 BST.

  16. Varadkar's message for future PMpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

In Brussels, Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says he is looking forward to meeting whoever the new British PM turns out to be.

But he repeats the EU's message that the withdrawal agreement negotiated with Theresa May's government is not up for renegotiation.

He says the non-binding "political declaration", on the shape of the EU and UK's post-Brexit relations, could be amended.

But he says his discussions with the EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier earlier today confirmed: "There will be European unity, that negotiations can only happen between the EU and UK in the EU - we're not going to allow negotiations to be moved to an inter-government level in any way."

  19. Jeremy Hunt 'the unity candidate'published at 13:49 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

Jeremy Hunt backer Greg Hands has been discussing his candidate's chances with BBC chief political correspondent Vicki Young.

He's asked why Tory grassroots members would back Mr Hunt - who campaigned for Remain in the EU referendum campaign - over Mr Johnson, who spearheaded the Leave campaign. Mr Hands replies that Mr Hunt is seen as a man who can get a deal in Brussels.

He says the foreign secretary is a "unity candidate" who is best placed to get a deal through Parliament and "crucially, to win a future general election".
