    Sajid Javid says it is a “huge privilege to be given such an important role and asked to serve as chancellor”.

    Arriving at the Treasury this evening, he says he is “looking forward” to working with Boris Johnson.

    “The prime minister has already set out some of his key priorities, which includes making sure we leave the EU on 31 October and that we take advantage of huge economic opportunities that lie ahead," he says.

    "So that’s what I’ll be focusing on. There’s a lot of work to do, so, if you allow me, I’m going to get on with it.”
