    Katrina Bryan otherwise known as Nina and the Neurons has taken the baton on a lap around Rozelle Park in Alloway.

    Rona Marnoch emailed to let us know that her son Murray was carrying the baton in Prestwick at about 18.18 BST tonight.

    She said Murray had a message for his dad who will be watching the relay from an oil rig in Norway: "Hi Dad wish you were here!"

    Former Olympic and Commonwealth boxer Richard McTaggart carried the baton in Alloway - the home of Scottish poet Robert Burns.

    Richard won gold in both the 1956 Olympic Games and 1958 Commonwealth Games.

    Brian Rowan emailed in to say: "Just a heads up to an interesting and emotional story for later on today. Three consecutive baton bearers are connected by Malcolm Sargent house. Eileen Granger MBE has been fund raising for CLIC Sargent since her wee boy Ross was treated at the house.

    "She will hand over to the brother of a wee girl who was treated at the same time as Ross. The boy then hands over to my good friend Billy Herd who is a volunteer at Malcolm Sargent House, Ayrshire Cancer Support, The Ayrshire Hospice. He's also set up the live feed for his housing complex and Malcolm Sargent House so the residents who can't see the baton in the flesh can watch."

    The boy Brian is referring to is Aidan Copland. He is the youngest baton bearer today in South Ayrshire and was nominated for his fundraising efforts with the cancer charity and his work with the Boys Brigade.

    You will be able to see Eileen, Aidan and Billy later today when the baton is in Prestwick this afternoon. You can also email in your baton bearer stories.

    Some colourful scenes in Maybole as the baton bearers continued through the town, with the sounds of the pipe band's Scotland the Brave and cheering children ringing in their ears.

    A group of baton bearers also treated the cameras to a rendition of Michael Jackson's zombie dance from the music video Thriller.

    They are specially trained officers from Police Scotland who have been doing a sterling job keeping everything on track since the baton relay started in Scotland.

    The baton has arrived at Carrick Academy, where it will take part in a community event inside the school. In less than an hour, the baton will then take to the streets of Maybole and will be carried by ten baton bearers.

    The granite "gemstone" at the top of the baton was sourced from the rock.

    Gemstones have been gifted to every one of the 69 nations and territories the baton visited before it arrived in Scotland last week.

    The baton relay has stopped at Girvan Community Hospital. The baton has gone inside to visit members of the community who could not line the streets to see it.

    Sportscotland, as part of its build up to the Commonwealth Games, has linked all of Scotland's 32 local authority areas with nations and territories of the Commonwealth.

    South Ayrshire is paired with Ghana and Kiribati. The BBC has been covering the Queen's Baton around the Commonwealth, and when we were in Ghana the team met a musician known as the 'flute magician'.

    Then in Kiribati, an island nation in the Pacific, presenter Mark Beaumont took part in some boat racing.
