    Bert McIntosh has taken over baton duty now and he's absolutely loving it. He's playing to the crowds, dancing, and skipping along the street.

    Bert has been associated with triathlon over the last 20 years, participating in the Goldcrest Triathlon Series until it came to a halt due to financial difficulty.

    Bert saw this as the opportunity to sponsor the series (known today as the McIntosh Plant Hire Triathlon Series), and invested heavily in racing equipment to help improve the events. He didn't stop there though; instead, he went and built the all-purpose Knockburn Sports Loch, which caters various sports including triathlon, football, kayak and dinghy sailing.

    His actions have spurred on the development and success of many athletes and helped improve the health and fitness of many locals.

    Picking up the baton in Kintore is Grace Marshall.

    Many of Grace's nominees say she has turned their lives around, making a huge impact on physical and mental wellbeing. This has been through the Workers' Educational Association (WEA) Kemnay Social Studies Group, and after being involved in one of the 90 classes Grace set up.

    Grace has found a way to get over 1,600 people from all walks of life involved in swimming, gentle exercises, orienteering, gymnastics, Scottish country and line dancing, life-long learning classes and close mentoring for the disabled.

    Next up is Alastair Brodie.

    For over quarter of a century Alastair has worked voluntarily for various charities, and has travelled all over the world to do so.

    In Zimbabwe and Malawi he organised charity bike fundraisers, helping to support street kid projects, whereas in Bulawayo he helped install sanitation in several villages, while supplying the first anti-retrovirals in the country, in efforts to combat HIV/AIDS.

    For his efforts over the years Alistair has received two Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship Awards.

    Bob Gibson, a member of Aberdeen Wheelers Cycling, carried the baton in Stonehaven.

    At 70 he still volunteers each week to run the club time trials. Those who nominated him described him as a "one-man organisational tour de force".

    Charis Bowie, who ran with the baton in Banchory, is a PE teacher.

    Outside work she supports young people as a church youth leader and has raised money for projects in the area and as far afield as Malawi and Uganda.

    We're on the way to Dunecht. Next up with the baton is Duncan Edmonston.

    When he was 32, Duncan was rendered completely paralysed. After a slow period of recovery Duncan recaptured the abilities of speaking, walking and feeding himself.

    Whilst still physically-affected by his paralysis he has raised more than £6,000 for multiple sclerosis and continues to contribute to charities.

    There was a great turnout in Banchory. Crowds lined the streets to cheer on the baton bearers and they were even treated to a performance from a choir.

    The baton will now go back in transit for its trip to Dunecht.

    The baton has touched down for the next leg of its journey in Banchory.

    The first baton bearer is chess supremo Callum Smith. At 12 Callum was introduced to chess and within a matter of months was hooked. In only his first year of competing, he came second in the Chess Grand Prix and was selected to represent the Scotland squad for "outstanding performance".

    Not content with merely playing chess, Callum voluntarily gives up his own time at Banchory Primary School Chess Club, serving as - to other budding chess players - both a mentor and friend.

    The next baton bearer is young Scottish swimmer Sara Hamilton who is carrying the baton to the outdoor pool in her home town of Stonehaven. Her specialities include the 100m freestyle, the 50m freestyle and the 4x100m freestyle.

    At the age of 15, she was the youngest member in Scotland's 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games team.
