The baton made a stop at Milne's Primary School in Fochabers a short while ago.
It opened in 1846 as Milne's Free School, the result of a bequest from Alexander Milne of New Orleans.
Born in Fochabers, Milne made his fortune in America and left $100,000 in his will for the construction of a school in his birthplace.
By 1986 the building was no longer in use as a school but, after a long campaign by the local community, the Category A listed building was renovated and reopened as Milne's Primary School in 1995.
Nikki Kidd carried the baton in Cullen earlier this morning.
Nikki will be playing hockey again for Team Scotland in Glasgow, having competed in both 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games. She is currently studying for a PhD at Edinburgh University.
