    There is still no final go-ahead for the helicopter flight to St Kilda, but Comhairle nan Eilean, external (Western Isles Council) tweets: "Although not officially confirmed yet, the Baton is scheduled to leave Benbecula Airport where it will head out to St. Kilda"

    A second tweet adds: "St Kilda, with its double World Heritage Site status, will be a majestic place for the Baton to visit on a day like this! #BatonRelay"

    The Outer Hebrides are known for their harsh, wet and windy conditions, but after a damp start in Eriksay and South Uist this morning, the warm sun has come out for our arrival in Benbecula.

    It just so happens that a group of Sea Cadets from Central Scotland are here in Benbecula for their regular summer camp, where they take part in various outdoor activities.

    When they heard about the baton's arrival at Liniclate they decided to line the street in support.

    The young people here come from Sea Cadet units in Paisley, Dalbeattie, Ayr and Queensferry.

    Marion Lindsay Steele was the third person to carry the baton in Daliburgh on South Uist.

    A trip to St Kilda via Benbecula Airport is next on the schedule, but it hasn't been officially confirmed yet.

    We have had a tweet, external from the bilingual local police force, WesternIslesPolice: "1/2 St Kilda, although you are the remotest part of the British Isles the Queens Baton is on its way #BatonRelay"

    And tweet again, for those of you who prefer it in the Gaelic: "2/2 Hiort, ged is sibh an ceàrn is iomallach de na h-Eileanan Bhreatainn tha Bata na Ban-rìghinn air an t-slighe #BatonRelay"

    Shinty player Joseph MacInnes enjoys his moment with the baton in Daliburgh earlier this morning.

    He has played for Uist Camanachd for the past five years. Recently he was recognised as the club's most improved player and became the captain of the side.

    The people who nominated Joseph say he has a "mature and motivating attitude".

    "He is not only a great asset to the club but an excellent role model," they add.

    The baton relay is travelling the length of the Western Islands chain today.

    We set off on the ferry from Ardmhor to Eriskay this morning, and then on to Daliburgh. Still to come are Lochboisdale, Balivanich, Tarbert, Butt of Lewis, finishing the day in Stornoway.

    We are all getting excited about the prospect of travelling to the isolated St Kilda island (weather permitting, of course!). As soon we get the green light for travel we will let you know.

    We are off and running in a rather damp South Uist as a huge crowd has gathered outside Sgoil Dhalabroig (Daliburgh School).

    The first baton bearer, Ronnie MacPhee is walking with the baton followed by a group of flag-waving children.

    If you are experiencing travel disruption in the Daliburgh area it will be the Queen's Baton Relay.

    The convoy has arrived almost an hour early at the school and is waiting by the road to spring into action.

    Today, the relay will travel between Daliburgh, Linaclate, Benbecula Airport, Tarbert, Butt of Lewis Lighthouse and Stornoway.
