    It may have been a bit wet but there have been plenty of highlights as the Queen's Baton Relay travelled from Inverkip to Greenock.

    Baton bearers David McSkimming and Susan Kirkpatrick got engaged in Greenock, a first for the relay.

    Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannatyne and actress Laurie Brett also carried the baton through the town.

    Fourteen-year-old twin brothers Lewis and Fraser, who are both budding swimmers, took part in the relay in Port Glasgow.

    You will also be pleased to know that mascot and all round cheeky chap, Clyde, found his road sign namesake in Inverclyde too.

    The area has experienced a good five to six hours of rainfall today and although not particularly heavy the persistent nature of the rain has resulted in accumulations of about five to 10mm in the locale, making for some testing conditions for the baton bearers.

    A much drier, brighter and warmer day is expected across Scotland on Tuesday you may be pleased to know.

    Today's last baton bearer, George Byng represented Scotland at the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and is still competing well into his late 70s.

    Last year he won the British Masters Weightlifting title for competitors aged between 75 and 79, to add to his other 11 masters titles.

    Janice Hendrie ran with the baton in Greenock a little bit earlier. According to the people who nominated her, Janice has "devoted the past 36 years of her life to improving the lives of youngsters in her local community" both as a PE teacher and head coach of Inverclyde Athletics Club, external.

    The relay stopped at Lyle Hill in Greenock during its progress through the town.

    The war memorial, external on the brow of the hill is dedicated to the Free French Forces who fought in World War Two and combines the Cross of Lorraine, the symbol of the Free French, with an anchor.

    Tickets are available for some of the most sought-after Commonwealth Games events, despite being oversubscribed when they first went on sale last year.

    BBC Scotland News reports that on the Glasgow 2014 ticketing website customers can still buy seats at a number of medal sessions, including the men's and women's 100m finals.

    There is "high availability" for the 5,000m final, in which English Olympic champion Mo Farah is due to compete.
