    ...or not, as this picture proves. This lucky fellow was carried all the way along the streets of Port Glasgow in support of Margaret Watson, the final baton bearer in the town.

    Well done to the good sir who made sure the pooch missed none of the action.

    Twin brothers Lewis and Fraser, 14, have done Port Glasgow proud carrying the Queen's Baton.

    Both were born profoundly deaf and received cochlear implants aged three, since then they have both proved to be an inspiration to many by using their love of swimming to beat the odds.

    They both swim for local and disability teams as well as the Great Britain deaf team - a place at the Deaf Olympics in 2017 is their long-term goal.

    The people of Inverclyde are being encouraged to get behind the South Pacific island nation of Niue as their second team for the Commonwealth Games.

    The programme is led by sportscotland and aims to link all 32 of Scotland's local authorities with the other 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth.

    If you missed the news over the weekend, Rod Stewart and Susan Boyle are to perform at the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games at Celtic Park on 23 July.

    Also due to perform on the night are Scottish acts Amy Macdonald, Julie Fowlis and violinist Nicola Benedetti.

    A crowd of 40,000 will be joined by a television audience of millions for the show.

    Army veteran James Owens was told he would never walk again after being injured during World War Two. He refused to listen to the doctors and worked hard to improve his physical condition.

    He has worked as a sports coach since the 1950s and was instrumental in setting up a local badminton school during the 1970s.

    He still coaches today at the age of 88.

    His achievements were recognised by the Scottish Badminton Union, when he was awarded the prestigious Derek Roarity Award for services to the sport.

    James had the honour of carrying the baton earlier in Greenock.

    Ahead of the film, discover the stories of some of the athletes and those Games including Liz McColgan and Tessa Sanderson.

    The Queen's Baton crossed one of Scotland's most iconic locations, the Glenfinnan Viaduct, during its journey through the Highlands.

    The railway bridge is depicted on the Bank of Scotland £10 note and also features in a number of Harry Potter films.

    David Sedgwick carried the baton on the train on Saturday as it passed over the viaduct. He was selected by 130 people and is Scotland's most-nominated baton bearer.
