    Scottish entrepreneur and philanthropist Duncan Bannatyne is one of the celebrity baton bearers on the relay today.

    The 65-year-old is best known as one of the 'dragons' on the BBC Two program Dragons' Den, but has been a strong champion for various charities.

    In 2008, he established the Bannatyne Charitable Foundation with a personal donation of £1m. This foundation is now heavily involved with the Mary's Meals charity, and their contribution helps to feed 16,000 children every day in Malawi.

    Baton bearer John Muir has devoted his time to running a major anti-knife campaign since his son Damien was stabbed to death seven years ago.

    His work in educating children against the dangers of carrying a knife has been recognised by the Scottish Government.

    The date of John carrying the baton has been made all the more poignant as it coincides with the anniversary of his son's passing.

    Robert Boyd, known locally as Bert, is a well known figure in Gourock for his tireless community work.

    He is a founding member of the Inverclyde Peace Initiative which aims to help resolve conflicts in schools. He was awarded an British Empire Medal for his services to the community.

    The first baton bearer of the day was Mark Pollard, a performance manager for Scottish Athletics who coached Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011.

    A keen runner himself, he has competed at several marathons.

    The first bit of action for the baton this morning was its arrival by ferry. This happened after a symbolic handover between Argyll and Bute to Inverclyde, in the middle of the Clyde.
