    Thirteen-year-old Lauren Collie is Renfrewshire's youngest baton bearer, and is getting some of the day's biggest cheers. Cars and buses are also sounding their horns in support.

    Keen swimmer Lauren has gained her 1,000m badge and has reached the highest level in the Shark class. She is also a Seconder in the Brownies, and her school's boccia champion.

    Here she is handing the baton to Hayley Strickland.

    Lauren McCready was joined at the start of her stint with a young lad dressed as a police officer.

    She then zig-zagged along the road, allowing as many of the cheering crowd as possible to touch the baton.

    A kilted Christopher Quinn received the baton from Elizabeth Stewart in Renfrew.

    Chris made a small boy at the roadside very happy when he stopped and gave him a miniature Clyde toy he was carrying. He then handed over to the next baton bearer, wife Joan-Anne.

    Chris is chief performance officer with Renfrew Baths, and volunteers his time to encourage children to be more active and to promote sports within the community.

    Keen cyclists Charlie Macleod from Howwood and Ewan McDonald from Johnstone have been following the baton relay every step of the way today.

    "We decided on a whim to follow it this morning," Ewan told me. "It's a nice view and the turnout has been great."

    They had no problems keeping up with the convoy - in fact, they've been ahead of us at most points. They were rewarded by a photo with the baton during a stop at Erskine.

    Morven spends three hours each week coaching sport. Through the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme she teaches first aid to children with disabilities.

    School teacher David Milligan carried the baton in Houston earlier. One of his former pupils, Naomi Butterworth, has emailed to offer him "huge congratulations".

    Naomi says: "For many years he has been an inspirational teacher, particularly where sports are concerned and keeping kids active.

    "He was our teacher at school and has been Harrison's for the last four years."
