    But these were Games when sport locked horns with politics over the issue of sanctions against the brutal apartheid regime in South Africa.

    Learn the stories of some of the athletes who were affected by the 1986 Games and discover the role of controversial media tycoon Robert Maxwell and a suspected Japanese war criminal.

    A former javelin athlete, Karen competed at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria and is now a shot put, discus and javelin coach.

    Corinne Hutton was cheered as she carried the baton along the streets of Lochwinnoch earlier.

    She created a charity called 'Finding your feet' after she had a quadruple amputation as a result of contracting septicaemia last year.

    She has now dedicated her life to the charity and hopes to help others who suffer from similar conditions.

    Katrina was a Scottish, British and World Title Holder and has represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 and Melbourne in 2006.

    The Queen's Baton will begin its journey through Renfrewshire in Howwood and will travel through towns and villages including Lochwinnoch, Kilbarchan, Johnstone, Elderslie and Linwood.

    It will also visit Brookfield, Bridge of Weir, Houston, Langbank, Bishopton, Erskine, Inchinnan, Renfrew and Gallowhill, before arriving in Paisley for an evening celebrations.
