    Michael suffers from multiple hereditary exostosis and has had over 20 operations to remove growths from his bones.

    A keen Scout, he's currently undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, with the hikes and expeditions posing a particular challenge to him. Michael has volunteered for both Cancer Research and Barnardo's and is currently undertaking the Saltire Award.

    Gavin is currently Active Schools Volunteer of the Year.

    A keen rugby player, he voluntarily promotes a plethora of sports, ranging from golf and athletics to after school football and cross-country running, which has benefitted children in the local community.

    Therese Gault had to delay the start of her stint with the baton when some supporters ran out with a large banner proclaiming: "Proud to support Team TG".

    We've received a couple of emails regarding Barbara Bell, who carried the baton earlier this morning.

    A former Scottish hockey internationalist, she has just retired as a PE teacher after more than 40 years working at both The High School of Glasgow and Bearsden Academy. Barbara now has two weeks volunteering as a Clydesider at the Commonwealth Games before she can enjoy her retirement.

    Fraser Bell wished her "good luck from the family - Graham, Jo, Fraser and Poppy".

    Barb O'Brien, from London, Ontario in Canada, said: "Congratulations to Barbara. We understand it is quite an honour. You've made your Canadian family proud."

    Margarita created the first fully inclusive competition system for skaters with all forms of disability through the charity Inclusive Skating. Skaters from Russia, Canada, USA, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Scotland and England have since taken part.

    As a result, a system of local clubs is being set up, as well as the first permanent club for skaters at the Time Capsule, Coatbridge.

    She is also the Special Olympics Figure Skating Technical Advisor.

    A member of the Junior Elite Team GB for snowboarding, Matt is also the Scottish and British champion, having won the British Championship for the last three years.

    He regularly attends Scottish Schools' ski and snowboard competitions - run by Snowsports Scotland - as a coach to actively encourage younger children to take part in snow sports and give them confidence in competing.

    He's a Young Peoples Sport Panel member and was a finalist in the 2013 Young Scot Awards.

    The relay has paused at the remains of a bathhouse in Bearsden which, along with nearby Antonine wall, pretty much marks the northernmost extent of the Roman empire.

    Could Anita be the first person to carry the baton while running in stiletto heels?

    A survivor of breast cancer, Anita often runs races and marathons for breast cancer charities, and is currently doing a PhD in breast cancer and exercise benefits.

    She also founded and coaches a group of runners with nearly 30 members.

    Peter has been an ultra-marathon runner since he recovered from a serious cardiac arrest in 2010.

    He finished 14th in the Scottish Ultra Marathon Series 2012, and in two years has run a staggering 10 ultra-marathons, with his longest race clocking in at 69 miles in length.

    A Glasgowlife youth worker, Peter has run for the past 40 years and has raised thousands of pounds for charities in the process, all while volunteering for young people and the community.

    Kirsty coaches and also competes in cheerleading, and her group has recently qualified for the world finals. She raised over £3,000 for Crohns and Colitis UK by running in two 10k's and is, in the words of those who nominated her, "a true inspiration to others".

    A kilted Douglas Crawford passed the baton to Kirsty Hamilton.

    Skier Dougie is a full-time member of the GB alpine squad and is the current overall British alpine champion.

    He always makes time in his schedule to support his local ski club in Bearsden, giving encouragement, relaying expertise and coaching the club's young racers.

    Dougie is also a patron of the youth charity Snow Camp, which promotes the inclusion of skiing, snowboarding and life skills in order to improve young people's lives.
