    A man has appeared in court charged with raping a 19-year-old woman in The Meadows in Edinburgh last year.

    Steven Davidson, 23, is accused of attacking the woman in the central Edinburgh park on 15 November.

    He was said to have approached her from behind, and placed his arm around her neck causing her to lose consciousness.

    Mr Davidson denied the accusations during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow. Judge Lord Burns set another hearing due to take place next month.

    A number of major supermarkets have recalled some products advertised as gluten-free because they may actually contain gluten.

    The affected products were all made by a bakery in Bathgate run by Edinburgh-based food company Genius.

    An alert for Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons has been issued, which covers products such as pitta bread and pizza bases.

    The Food Standards Agency said the items "are a possible health risk" for those with a gluten allergy or intolerance.

    High pressure is in the process of taking control of our weather - resulting in settled, mostly dry conditions, with some brightness and sunshine and a bit of warmth over the next few days.

    There's a largely dry afternoon to come, with bright spells and some sunshine. Cloud will continue to bubble up across the north-west corner and the Northern Isles, producing a few showers. A few showers will also affect Aberdeen, Tayside and Fife.

    There will be temperature highs of around 15 or 16C for the Perthshire, Fife and Stirling areas, and highs of 14 or 15C for most. It will be cooler, around 10-12C, across the far north.

    Winds will be generally light to moderate, though there will be a fresher breeze for the south-west corner and Orkney, from the west or north-west.

    A six-year-old girl, who survived a cancer battle, is back in hospital after being injured when an inflatable slide blew into a crowd in high winds.

    Summer Wroniecki broke a bone in her leg when the inflatable was blown about 150 yards into the crowd at Duffus Park in Cupar, Fife, on Saturday afternoon.

    Summer had previously battled a rare type of cancer, which was diagnosed just after her third birthday.

    Her father Christian wrote on Facebook that his daughter was "comfortable".

    A construction company has admitted failures over the death of a worker at a building site in Glasgow.

    Daniel Hurley, who was 31 and from Cork in Ireland, died after a 1.6 tonne steel frame fell on top of him at the site in Murano Street, Maryhill, on 15 October 2009.

    The company, Morris and Spottiswood, admitted health and safety failings over the bolts used to secure the frame and the holes which held them.

    At Glasgow Sheriff Court, sentence on the firm was deferred.

    The Scot fought back from two sets down but lost in five-sets to Novak Djokovic in their pulsating semi-final at the French Open.

    "My game is back close to where it needs to be, to be winning Slams," said the Scot. "Hopefully I can play much better going into the grass this year."

    Djokovic retains the number one spot while Rafael Nadal slips to 10th, his lowest position in a decade.

    One of the biggest flowers in the world could be about to be seen in Scotland for the first time ever.

    Known as the "corpse flower" because it gives off a stench of rotting flesh to attract insects, the Titan Arum is indigenous to the rainforests of western Sumatra in Indonesia.

    Now one in the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh has been growing at the rate of several centimetres a day.

    The Garden say they still don't know for certain if the growth will turn out to be a flower. There have been false alarms before, such as in 2011 when a similar growth spurt extended to more than four metres in height, before turning out to be a new leaf.

    Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with two robberies in Renfrewshire.

    The first incident saw the Co-operative store in High Bar Holm, Kilbarchan, targeted at about 20:35 on 28 February.

    The second robbery took place at the 101 Offsales, in Kilbarchan Road, Johnstone, at about 20:35 on 14 March.

    Police have described the man as white, medium-to-well built, 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in in height, with a distinctive nose and chin.

    He was wearing a dark hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

    The administration on the council was made up of Conservative, Liberal Democrats, Labour and Independent councillors.

    The Conservative-led administration lost its majority after the resignation of four coalition councillors.

    A lost racing pigeon which crash-landed on a North Sea oil rig was "airlifted to safety" by helicopter.

    The Scottish SPCA was contacted after the exhausted bird landed on the Clyde platform, which is 160 miles offshore, last Monday.

    The pigeon, who was nicknamed Pedro, was able to hitch a helicopter lift to Aberdeen on Thursday with crew who were coming back to the mainland.

    Animal rescue officer Kirsty McQuade said: "It was actually my boyfriend Kevin Mitchell who found Pedro. He crash landed on deck and Kevin managed to catch him and take him inside." Mr Mitchell then fed him and kept him in a box on board.

    Pedro is now recuperating at a Scottish SPCA rescue centre, where he is said to be making a "good recovery."
