    SNP MSP Linda Fabiani and SNP MSP Christine Grahame were elected as the deputy presiding officers.

    Mr Macintosh says the next meeting of the parliament will be at 2pm on Tuesday 17th May, when MSPs will select a nominee for the appointment of first minister.

    With that, Mr Macintosh brings to an end his first half day in office and adjourns the parliament.

    Presiding Officer Ken Macintosh says voting is closed in the third round of the deputy presiding officer elections, somewhat prematurely as the vote has not yet taken place.

    To much laughter Mr Macintosh says: "Sack the presiding officer." and threatens another election!

    Presiding Officer Ken Macintosh announces the result of the second round of voting for the posts of deputy presiding officer:

    • SNP MSP Linda Fabiani 59 votes
    • SNP MSP Christine Grahame 19 votes
    • Conservative MSP Margaret Mitchell 46 votes

    Again no overall majority and therefore Christine Grahame is eliminated 

    She jokes a wee bit too loudly:  "The story of my life."
