14:12 BST 12 May 2016All 129 MSPs have been sworn in at the beginning of the fifth session of the Scottish Parliament. Party leaders were first to take their affirmation, or oath, in the well Holyrood's debating chamber.
SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish Labour's Kezia Dugdale and the Scottish Green Party's Patrick Harvie chose to make an affirmation.
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson and the Scottish Liberal Democrats Willie Rennie chose the oath.
Before making his affirmation, Patrick Harvie said his party's MSPs will serve the people of Scotland first.
Labour MSP Elaine Smith is the final nomineepublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 12 May 2016
14:02 BST 12 May 2016Labour MSP Elaine Smith has also entered the fray.
Ms Smith was first elected to Coatbridge and Chryston in 1999 and re-elected in 2003 and 2007.
She is now a Central Scotland list MSP.
Before entering Parliament she trained as a teacher, worked in various local government departments and as a volunteer's manager.

13:59 BST 12 May 2016Conservative MSP John Scott was deputy presiding officer in the last parliament, but now he wants the main job.
Mr Scott won the first ever Scottish Parliament by-election in March 2000 and has held the Ayr seat since.
In addition, he farms at Balkissock near Ballantrae and is a past chairman of the National Farmer’s Union of Scotland Hill Farming Committee.
His interests include curling, geology and rugby – John played for Wigtownshire RFC from 1969-73.

13:58 BST 12 May 2016Labour MSP Ken Macintosh has thrown his hat into the ring, he certainly has confidence in his singing voice, as evinced by his carpool karaoke.
Mr Macintosh lost his Eastwood seat in the election and now represents the West of Scotland via the list.
The former TV producer for BBC News was first elected to the Scottish Parliament in 1999.

13:55 BST 12 May 2016Scottish Labour MSP Johann Lamont became the first ever MSP for Glasgow Pollok in 1999.
The former school teacher was successfully re-elected in 2003, 2007 and 2011 before losing her seat to SNP MSP Humza Yousaf in the 2016 Holyrood election.
Ms Lamont was formerly the communities minister and then a justice minister during the Labour administration.
She served as a committee convener before being elected Deputy Leader of the Labour Party in 2008.
Ms Lamont was the leader of the Scottish Labour party from 2011-2014.

Mr Fraser has worked as a solicitor and held the position of Deputy Leader of the Scottish Conservatives from November 2005 to November 2011.
Mr Fraser's interests outside politics include hillwalking (he has climbed Kilimanjaro and more than half of Scotland’s 284 Munros), football, classic cars, travel (especially Africa), and Scottish history.

12:26 BST 12 May 2016This afternoon the newly sworn-in MSPs will elect one of their number to serve as the presiding officer.
This role includes overseeing meetings of the parliament as well as undertaking diplomatic functions and representing the parliament at home and abroad.
Five MSPs have so far put themselves forward for the role, including former deputy presiding officers John Scott and Elaine Murray, leading Labour figures Johann Lamont and Ken Macintosh and Conservative Murdo Fraser.
Two deputy presiding officers will also be elected, with a number of MSPs from across the chamber in the running for those posts.
