  1. Dumfries count blazin' but no fiddlingpublished at 00:02 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    Reevel Alderson
    BBC Scotland Home Affairs correspondent

The counts are well under way in Dumfries for two of Scotland's largest constituencies. Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Secretary's seat of Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweedale are being counted in the Easterbrook Hall. Advertising here is still evident for a recent concert of Blazin' Fiddles. Let's hope there's none of that in the counting process.

  2. Lib Dems confident in East Dunbartonshire.published at 00:01 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    Jamie McIvor
    BBC Scotland local government correspondent

Count under way in Bishopbriggs. Lib Dems "cautiously optimistic" they will win East Dunbartonshire.

Jo Swinson is hoping to win the seat back from the SNP's John Nicolson.

  3. Kevin McKenna: 'Astounding indications' from seats with 'massive SNP majorities'published at 23:59 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

Pro-independence journalist Kevin McKenna told the BBC Election Cafe that he is hearing remarkable suggestions from around the country.

He said: "We are actually hearing more astounding indications on the ground of what might be happening to a couple of seats in Scotland with massive SNP majorities, one of which could actually go to Labour."

    Kevin McKenna

He added: "If that does indicate a Labour surge in Scotland, rather than a Conservative surge, then you wonder if it's a case of what might have been in Jeremy Corbyn's camp.

"Because if he does indeed stop Theresa May getting an overall majority, he might be thinking to himself if the Labour party in Scotland had got its act together, what could have actually happened nationally?"

Frank McAveety, the former leader of Glasgow City Council, told BBC Scotland that he is optimistic about the Labour vote in the city.

He said: "If the exit poll is to believed, I think the ball is back in play on the pitch.

"Our candidates in Glasgow put up a fantastic fight. They demonstrated that there's a serious pressure from Labour in the city Glasgow on the SNP vote that they received in 2015."

    Frank McAveety

He added: "I've seen some returns that indicate we are back in the fight.

"Certainly if you had said to me ... two years ago that Labour would be this close two years later, well I think people would have been saying that's really not going to be the case.

"So we're back in the fight this evening."

He went on: "There's a message being sent to the SNP and the first minister in particular that the preoccupation with the independence referendum is affecting the SNP vote."

  15. Tommy Sheppard: Theresa May could be 'gone by morning'published at 23:32 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

Tommy Sheppard, the SNP candidate for Edinburgh East, told BBC Scotland that if the poll was "anything like true", it would be a "catastrophic night" for the Conservative party.

It would be a "real case of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory",

"And if it's anything like true - this seat share - then she'll be gone by morning," he added.

    Tommy Shepherd

And on the projections for the SNP's final tally, he said: "Had it not been for the absolutely remarkable result of two years ago, people would have said it was a historic achievement for the SNP.

"Let's try and put it into some sort of perspective.

"One thing's for sure, the SNP is winning and will win this general election in Scotland and the Conservatives have failed to get a mandate in Scotland both for their austerity policies and for their attempt ot block Scottish people having a choice in their own future once we know what Brexit actually means."
